Quvenzhané Wallis is heading back to television!
It was recently announced that the 16-year-old actress will star in the new show Swagger for Apple TV.
Quvenzhané will play Crystal, a young, top female basketball player, in the series inspired by basketball player Kevin Durant‘s youth basketball experiences, Deadline reports.
Swagger will explore “the world of youth basketball, and the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption. Off the court, the show reveals what it’s like to grow up in America.”
O’Shea Jackson Jr is also set to star in the basketball-themed drama series.
Quvenzhané has most recently been seen in a recurring role on black-ish. She played Kyra, Dre’s young cousin who came to stay with the Johhsons for awhile.
Quvenzhane Wallis grew all the way up!
The young actress, who shot to fame after being nominated for an Oscar at just eight-years-old for Beasts of the Southern Wild, will be starring in an upcoming episode of black-ish, and JJJ has the pics!
Quvenzhane will star as Kyra, Dre’s teenage cousin, who is need of a place to stay. However, as the Johnsons decide to take her in, they have different approaches to helping her adjust to suburban life.
The episode, also starring Freaky Friday‘s Dara Renee, will air later this month on ABC.
Psst, don’t forget to watch an all new black-ish TONIGHT on ABC!
With the 2017 Academy Awards just around the corner, we want to take a minute to praise young actors who’ve kicked some serious butt in Hollywood by scoring an Oscar nomination.
This year, 20-year-old Hailee Steinfeld was our best bet for an actor under 20 to represent, but sadly she narrowly missed getting a nomination for her coming-of-age-flick The Edge of Seventeen. P.S. That would have been her second nomination!

Yara Shahidi was just honored with a major award!
The black-ish starlet was honored last night at the 2017 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards with the Generation Next Award, and it looks like all of her family was there to celebrate.

“I’m fortunate,” Yara shared in her speech after her TV mom Tracee Ellis Ross presented to her. “Because you all have taught me by example what the role of the artist is: to disrupt, to remold and to create.”
Quvenzhane Wallis and Dear White People‘s Logan Browning were also at the event.
Congrats again, Yara!
FYI: Yara wore a head-to-toe Chanel look.
We can seriously not handle this cuteness right now!
Baby Daddy star Jean-Luc Bilodeau went to the Kari Feinstein’s Pre-Oscar Style Lounge just ahead of the 2017 Academy Awards this coming weekend and got hit with a whole lot of cuteness with a puppy!
We just can’t handle it.

Switched at Birth star Lucas Grabeel, Kelli Berglund and the youngest Oscar nominee ever Quvenzhane Wallis were also at the lounge.

Can you believe that Quvenzhane Wallis is already 13?!
The young actress, who made her film debut in Beasts of the Southern Wild, got all dolled up for the 2016 National Board of Review Gala last night in NYC, next to Manchester by the Sea‘s Lucas Hedges and up and coming actress Royalty Hightower.
Quvenzhane, who also starred in the 2014 remake of Annie, is growing up so fast!
At the event, Quvenzhane presented the best breakthrough actress award to Royalty, who’s major break came in The Fits.
Next, Royalty will star opposite Laurence Fishburne in Ruby In Murdertown next year.
