Rayvon Owen kisses a hot guy in this brand new music video for his song “Can’t Fight It”!
The 24-year-old American Idol alum was originally supposed to hook up with a girl in the video, but decided to come out instead.
“When I read that treatment, I knew I couldn’t be dishonest,” Rayvon told Billboard. “Not that I ever lied to people in the past, but the truth had been omitted. I felt like I was doing a disservice because I’ve always been an honest, loving person.”
As for why he didn’t come out during Idol, Rayvon said, “I was afraid. Here’s a show that reaches so many people, including a lot of small town, conservative people, who grew up in the same environment I grew up in. I was afraid that if I shared this part of my life, would people vote for me? It’s sad that I had to think that. I never said I dated a girl or I’m straight, but I never said I was gay, either. I just let people think what they think. Not just publicly but with the contestants, with the producers, with everybody. I decided to keep that to myself. Do I regret that decision? You can’t go back and change it. You just learn from it.”
“What kind of threw me off was how he said, ‘If you think it is whack, you can go home.’ If you think I’m being rude, to be disrespectful back isn’t right. Two wrongs don’t make a right,” the 20-year-old contestant shared with People, after Harry called him out on being ‘disrespectful’.
Quentin added, “He said I could leave. I know I can leave. He can leave as well, but he chooses to be here because he loves to do what he’s doing. And that’s the same for me. Ryan just asked how I was feeling, and I was honest. I was upset.”
He said of eliminated contestant Joey Cook, “My fear was that they’re going to pit both of us against each other [in the bottom two], but I was also very uncomfortable that I [got voted through] and she didn’t. But I’m happy that she gets to branch out and flourish now because she is a monster. She gets the chance to fly now to soar.”
The two singers were sent back home after performing for Eightie’s Night with mentor Boy George.
Clark Beckham was by far, the fave, singing “Every Breath You Take” by The Police.
“You really took me on a journey, chordally, melodically, emotionally,” judge Keith Urban told him. “You became, instead of that song being sort of like almost a stalker, you know, which is what the song kind of is, you brought out the melancholy and the pain in it in a way that I’ve never heard before.”
