Adelaide Kane Had A Lot of Emotions While Filming the Final 'Reign' Scenes

Adelaide Kane Had A Lot of Emotions While Filming the Final 'Reign' Scenes

Are you glued to the television screen watching Reign right now like we are? Good!

There are just moments to go until the final moments and star Adelaide Kane prepped us for them.

“There were so many emotions on that day, because not only was it the last scene, but it was the last day of shooting too,” she revealed to us during our interview. “I thought it was a perfect way to wrap it up, because we actually had to. There wasn’t any real option to leave anyone sort of hanging.”

Obviously, there was much more to Mary’s story they could have told if they had had a fifth season.

“I was really sad that the show was ending, but happy and grateful that so many of the crew and cast turned up for that scene,” Adelaide adds. “We’re all such a family after four years and so grateful for all of it. I don’t know how many women get this type of experience that I had with Reign, with being a lead on the show for four seasons and it was just such a wonderful show with such amazing people.”

The cast and crew’s bond was so tight, and Adelaide really does miss it all.

“It was bittersweet. I was really going to miss everyone who was there, and I do miss everybody,” she shared. “Not so much the cast (laughs), because they’re here in LA with me and I see them all the time. But I do miss all the crew and our sets and being in Toronto and being in that world.”

“It was just a really beautiful scene and beautiful day. It was a very emotive finale that I don’t think a lot of shows actually get, or a cast gets. Like a note of closure, even though it was a bit rushed.”

Adelaide Kane Reveals Her Favorite Frary Scene From 'Reign'

Adelaide Kane Reveals Her Favorite Frary Scene From 'Reign'

Let’s face it, Mary and Francis on Reign had a love story for the history books (if only, it was true history…).

When JJJ spoke with star Adelaide Kane, we had to find out what her favorite scenes were between the two lovebirds.

The sweetest scene for her? When Mary told Francis she was pregnant.

“[It was] just before she miscarried,” she shared. “I think that it was incredibly sweet. They had been waiting for so long and there was just so much pressure on them.”

Adelaide adds, “He had that line where he says that he didn’t want to get her pregnant because we’re married, but he wanted them to get pregnant because he loved her. Her being able to to tell him that she was pregnant with his child in that moment, was just a really sweet moment.”

Spoiler alert! There’s a Frary scene tonight for the series finale, so get ready for that!

Mary & Elizabeth Drastically Age in 'Reign's Series Finale

Mary & Elizabeth Drastically Age in 'Reign's Series Finale

Rachel Skarsten is giving us all the goodies for tonight’s series finale of Reign.

The actress, who plays the “Virgin Queen” Queen Elizabeth I, revealed that both she and Adelaide Kane were aged for the final episode.

In the finale, titled, “All It Cost Her…”, Mary makes a decision that will change the course of history — forever shaping the fate of her nation, her crown, and her newborn son.

Mary’s perilous move for her survival causes the stunning realization that perhaps she is not the only one who may not survive.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth steadies herself for war and will become the instigator in Mary’s demise while later realizing she and Mary might be more similar than either thought.

Tune in TONIGHT @ 9PM ET/PT on The CW.

Adelaide Kane Totally 'Creeped' On Rachel Skarsten When She Joined 'Reign'

Adelaide Kane Totally 'Creeped' On Rachel Skarsten When She Joined 'Reign'

This is one of JJJ‘s favorite friendship stories ever!

We all know that on-screen in Reign, Adelaide Kane and Rachel Skarsten are bitter enemies, but in real life they really are BFFs.

Rachel is one of my best friends now, and I remember her coming on at a time when we had lost a few of the girls [ladies in waiting],” Adelaide remembers, in our exclusive interview with her. “I was just so excited to have another women on set, because we just had so many men.”

After it was announced that Rachel would be joining the series as Elizabeth I, Adelaide was so excited.

“I had already creeped her on Twitter and Instagram and thought she looked really fun and I was really keen on develop a friendship with her,” she says. “I had reached out to her on Twitter to welcome her to the show and then she was on set and I was so nervous that she wouldn’t like me or want to be friends with me.”

It’s a fear that many of us get when we meet new people — that they won’t like us in return.

Adelaide actually felt the same way: “I was just bullied a lot in school and I get so nervous around other women. But we just ended up hitting if off and it turned into us being the best of friends.”

When we talked of fans calling the twosome Radelaide, Adelaide admits that loves it!

“It’s super cute that the fans call us that,” she said. “I also take credit for coining #Rachface. All of her random facial expressions that she insists on posting (laughs). She has such an expressive face and a big personality and i just hash tagging it. Now all the fans have just started picking it up. It’s amazing.”

Torrance Coombs Writes A Final Goodbye To 'Reign' & Bash (and Yes, You Will Cry)

Torrance Coombs Writes A Final Goodbye To 'Reign' & Bash (and Yes, You Will Cry)

Torrance Coombs left Reign back in season three, but let’s be real here — Bash is always the character you wanted and needed to make a triumphant return.

In fact, we’re still hoping for that, even if it is the series finale tonight.

JJJ reached out to Torrance for one final goodbye, and he did not disappoint!

Torrance shared an amazing, mini-essay, just for JJJ Reign fans, and yes, we are crying. No shame.

Read it all below:

“Reign holds a very special place in my heart for a number of reasons. I didn’t know back in 2013 that these strangers I met, jet lagged in Ireland, would one day become my family. Even though I left the show before the 4th season, we’re all still in touch and many even attended my wedding.

The truth is, we all thought the show was a bit weird. The mixture of history and fantasy, period and modern. We didn’t know as we were making it how it would all come together, or if anybody would want to watch it enough for it to get picked up.

But here we are four seasons later, and we’re all very sad to say goodbye. Which brings me to the other special thing about this show: the fans. I’ve worked on many shows now, and I’ve never come across such a passionate, kind, funny, insane group of people. You propelled us to a People’s Choice Award win. You taught me all kinds of fun Brazilian slang. And you’ve greeted me warmly as I’ve traveled to countries all around the world. I can’t tell you how much it means to make something and have it actually resonate with people. It’s a rarer occurrence than many realize.

Massive thank you to everyone at the CW, who are big champions of unknown and emerging actors. Thank you to Laurie McCarthy and Stephanie Sengupta for creating the show, and to Brad Silberling, the pilot whisperer, for setting the tone right out the gate. To the writing team for impossibly packing so much action into 4 short years. And to the literally hundreds of artists and tradespeople working in pre-production, production and post-production who get far too little credit for propping us all up and making the show look and feel amazing.

I’m sorry to say goodbye to old Bashy, but I’m forever grateful he happened. Love to you all.”

Unearthed what is probably my first set selfie as Bash. Not sure if I'd even shot a scene yet. #Reign

'Reign's Adelaide Kane Plays Queen For A Day & This Is Her First Act

'Reign's Adelaide Kane Plays Queen For A Day & This Is Her First Act

Adelaide Kane played a Queen for four seasons long on Reign, so she knows just a little bit about running a country.

When JJJ had the opp to ask her about what her actual first act as a Queen would be, she had the more brilliant answer:

“If I was a queen back in those days, I probably would’ve had really good sanitation practices put in place.”

YES!

She adds, “Taking a nod from the Roman sewer system and there are hot springs in Scotland, too, so just move everyone to a castle there with the hot springs so everyone can bathe regularly and reduce all that illness. I think that would’ve been my life’s work to make sure everyone had proper sanitation and knew how not to get the plague and die.”

But what if Mary was a Queen in this time and had herself a Twitter?

Adelaide didn’t have to think long about what her first tweet would be.

“Oh, either ‘I love Francis’ with a heart emoji, or ‘I am the queen of Scotland and you will obey me!’,” she said.

“She had two speeds (laughs). ‘I am the rightful queen of Scotland’ or ‘I love Francis’,” Adelaide adds. “Even on Facebook, her relationship status would be set to ‘in a relationship with Francis II’.”
