Ross Lynch in a red suit and Riker Lynch in a striking silver one is now our favorite new thing.
The two brothers and R5 musicians opened up to YSB Now about music, fans and more. Check it:
Ross on why he’s not tweeting everything: “I’m known for being outgoing, but at times I can be really introverted. Sometimes I can have a million words to say and then other times, I don’t want to talk at all and I just want to listen. It’s like what Jimi Hendrix says: ‘Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.’ Sometimes I’ve got the knowledge; sometimes I just want to learn.”
Riker on the fans: “It’s kind of crazy and it humbles you in a weird way and I think that’s because we aren’t big-headed people. We’re very proud of what we do and we believe in ourselves, but it’s crazy to think that people will mark their calendars, save up to buy tickets, and then get there so early to get good seats on the day of the show.”
Ross on the love of music: “There are artists whose reason for changing their music is because they want to be cool. It’s not because they love that type of music. With us, I can tell you genuinely – I love Led Zeppelin! And I love The Beatles and Queen and all those classic rock bands that are so iconic. That’s the reason that we’re playing the music that we are.”
Ross on having stage fright: “When I was younger, there was no way I was getting up there. You had to bribe me with all sorts of things! In our basement, I was a stud – I would perform for everybody! But when it came to actually getting onstage in front of people I didn’t know, I was the worst. And I guess over the years, doing it over and over and over again, I just got really comfortable. And now I don’t even flinch before going out onstage. It’s almost like second nature.”
Riker on getting the band together: “I remember that moment when Ellington did the first drum fill into the song and then we started playing. I remember having the biggest smile on my face. It was the craziest, most excited I’ve ever felt in my life. And something just sparked right there, and subconsciously I knew that something special had just happened.”
