'Riverdale' Costume Designer Shares Pics From Cut 'Retro' Scene

'Riverdale' Costume Designer Shares Pics From Cut 'Retro' Scene

Just a few days into the new year, we found out that Riverdale had a second “classic” scene that was ultimately cut from season two.

But, lucky for all of us, Rebekka Sorensen Kjelstrup, the costume designer on the hit CW series, has shared BTS pics of all the looks that were to be included.

“We actually shot this really cool sequence that we ended up cutting for time,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared. “The camera tracked across like four or five booths, and each booth was a different time period. In one booth, you had the kids in the ’40s.”

“In another booth you had Kevin and Moose in the ’50s, and in another booth you had Josie and the Pussycats in the ’70s. In the next booth, you had Cheryl in the ’80s.”

'Riverdale' Got a Funny Shout Out on 'Will & Grace'

'Riverdale' Got a Funny Shout Out on 'Will & Grace'

We’re fairly certain that everyone loves Riverdale — we mean, how could you not?

Even Jack (Sean Hayes) from Will & Grace does — which is why he freaked out so much about the show possibly being cancelled during the new Will & Grace episode this week.

After Jack had a jingle stuck in his head, Will (Eric McCormack) told him to sing another song — which didn’t help one bit.

But what did help? Will freaking Jack out about Riverdale possibly being cancelled.

“What? No! Oh my God! Archie is our hottest ginger,” Jack replied. “This is a disaster. What do we do? What do we do?”

So relatable!

Riverdale returns in two weeks on January 17th on The CW.

Betty Cooper's Brother Chic Arrives In 'Riverdale' Without a Wimper

Betty Cooper's Brother Chic Arrives In 'Riverdale' Without a Wimper

Only TWO more weeks until Riverdale returns and we’re getting another clue about Betty Cooper’s brother Chic’s arrival!

Hart Denton has been cast as Lili Reinhart‘s brother and we’ll finally get to meet him in the second half of the season.

As for his arrival, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa dished that he could be causing a big bang.

“Just watch,” he said. “I’ll tell you what, he doesn’t come in with a whimper, I’ll tell you that much.”

He also opened up about Betty’s continued struggles with the darkness and her family roots.

“I think Betty’s big series arc will always be kind of relate back to the kind of darkness within her,” Roberto said. “I think she’s always trying to figure out where that comes from and I think one of the theories is that she inherited it from her family. So I think that that’s a story that we’ll always be telling with Betty, some version of it. So yeah, we’re going to explore that for sure in the second half of the season, and yeah Betty’s family will absolutely kind of be front and center for her for a bit.”

A Retro 'Riverdale' Scene Was Cut From Season Two

A Retro 'Riverdale' Scene Was Cut From Season Two

Remember back in season 1 of Riverdale when we had that awesome retro scene with the core four — Archie, Veronica, Betty and Jughead — looking like they were pulled straight from the comics?

Well, it turns out that there was another scene like that planned for season two — only to be cut for time.

The scene was planned for the second episode “Nighthawks”, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared with EW.

“We actually shot this really cool sequence that we ended up cutting for time,” he explained.

While that scene probably won’t make it on screen, we’re hoping for a fun digital extra sometime before the season ends.

It also looks like another retro scene is planned, and the writers are hoping to find another place for a throwback moment.

Lili Reinhart Teases Trouble Ahead for Betty & Veronica's Friendship on 'Riverdale'

Lili Reinhart Teases Trouble Ahead for Betty & Veronica's Friendship on 'Riverdale'

We all watched Betty and Veronica have a falling out earlier this season on Riverdale — but according to Lili Reinhart, it’s about to get worse.

Speaking with Glamour, the actress opened up about the two girls’ friendship and the hard times that they’ll be going through when the series returns next month.

And, spoiler, it’s not about kiss between Betty and Archie.

“I think that concept is challenged in the second half,” Lili says. “Not to give too much away, but I think there is definitely challenges to come in Betty and Veronica’s friendship, and it’s a result of their parents, to be honest.”

She adds, “It’s like, how do they navigate their friendship with the parents that they have? And if their parents are at war, does that mean the kids are at war? That becomes very, very heavy in the latter half. The concept of Betty and Veronica putting each other first does become challenged.”

Riverdale returns on January 17th on The CW.

'Riverdale' Will Go Back To Basics For Season 2B

'Riverdale' Will Go Back To Basics For Season 2B

When Riverdale returns later this month, we’ll be going back to basics.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa dished to EW that the series will be re-focusing on the friendships for the second half of season two.

“The second half of season 2 gets back to a little bit of Riverdale basics, which is focused on stories at the school, kind of getting back in deep on the relationships and the friendships,” he shared.

He added, “There’s still going to be a pulpy noir crime element to the second half, but there will be a resurgence of high school hijinks, and getting back to the roots of what Archie’s all about, which is the kids and the school.”

Riverdale will return on Wednesday, January 17th @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.
