“From teenagers on the Internet,” she explained. “I love my parents, but they weren’t teaching me about intersectional feminism. My teachers weren’t teaching me about that.”

“I had teenagers on the Internet who were like, ‘This is who Malcolm X was. This is who Angela Davis is,’” Rowan continued. “It was just taking time to really absorb that. I learned about Jenny Holzer and artists that I would have never had access to because of sites like Tumblr where even if they reduce their imagery to just reblogged content, it is still exposes you to different voices that you wouldn’t of had a chance to hear.”

“I grew up on the Internet from a very early age,” she added. “I just kind of always felt that I could have my voice and it was almost shocking that people were shocked that I spoke out. It seemed like an oxymoron to me. I really do see myself as of one of millions of teenagers in how we perceive the world and the things that we know.”

She also discussed her new movie A Wrinkle in Time as well as her new book “Still Here.” Hear what else she had to say here.

The young actresses spoke with HBO and Vice News about the movement, and shared some personal experiences.

“It’s sort of interesting when I’ve talked to other male actors who are my age about how shocked they are,” Rowan said. “I fantasize about being shocked.”

“I had an instance where I witnessed somebody I worked with inappropriately touched someone else that I worked with who was a minor. I reported it privately to our showrunner,” she added about an instance she experienced. “The next day, nobody talked to me, and said that I was trying to ruin this person’s career.”

Emma opened up about her experience, which happened outside of work and how it could happen anywhere.

“That’s something I also want to say,” she said. “That it’s not always going to be [in] a work environment.”

Rowan Blanchard turns heads in a bright green jumpsuit at the Gucci show during Milan Fashion Week on Wednesday morning (February 21) in Milan, Italy.

The 16-year-old actress sat front row for the fashion show, after recently opening up about her new movie, A Wrinkle in Time.

Speaking with Buzzfeed’s AM2DM, Rowan chatted about the new flick, which hits theaters in March.

“Being a part of that entire project was so surreal,” she says. “It feels like an experimental film to me. This has never been done before, where the young girl of color is leading literally a science fiction story, where she saves the entire world.”

Rowan added, “That doesn’t exist…I feel like we’re on the verge of something.”
