'Marvel's Runaways' Ended With a Cliffhanger, Will It Come Back After All?

The third and final season of Marvel’s Runaways is out on Hulu and the ending is having everyone questioning…

The last episode of the series left a little cliffhanger, even though the show was cancelled.

Showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are opening up about whether this means the show will come back or not.

“We’re treating this like a series finale,” Josh told EW. “But we always want to have the potential for another story out there whether it’s something that we get to see onscreen or something that lives on in the imagination of the audience.”

“I think the most important thing was we just wanted the audience to feel like this group was very much together, solidified as a family, and that if they were hoping their last runaway adventure was in the rearview mirror they were probably wrong about that and there would be more to come,” Stephanie added.

“We had planned a finale that could go either way, for the reason that we felt like that would not be clear to us by the time we had finished breaking this season,” she continued.

“It was clear to us that the future of the show was going to be a bit out of our hands,” Josh added. “And so we wanted to ensure that the finale was as satisfying as possible.”

Cloak & Dagger's Olivia Holt & Aubrey Joseph Spill on 'Runaways' Crossover Episode!

Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph are dishing some insider details about the Cloak & Dagger and Marvel’s Runaways crossover episode!

The Cloak & Dagger co-stars opened up in a new interview with Collider. Here’s what they had to share:

Olivia Holt on what it was like coming onto set and joining the cast: “I’ve truly never, ever, in my entire career, have experienced something like this. I believe they have 15 series regulars, and it’s hilarious because, on our show, there are five, and most of the time, it’s just Aubrey and I in scenes. So, there’s two of us, and we would onto this stage and were at least 17 people. It was a lot of people, but they’re all so used to it, so they made it really easy and comfortable for us to just step right in. Both Aubrey and I felt really grateful that they did that. On top of that, everyone was just really kind and really professional and awesome to work with. The kicker was definitely not being familiar with working with 16 other people, in one room. That was definitely a challenge, in itself, but a good one, to say the least.”

Aubrey on where Tyrone and Tandy are at in their lives in the episode: “It’s a confirmation for them. In the [crossover] episode, you’ll see some really cool using of Tyrone and Tony’s powers. Our first two seasons was us warming up and getting used to the powers. We’re at the point now where we know what we’re capable of. There’s still more learning to go, but we know what we’re capable of. We meet the Runaways at a point where we needed to meet. It’s not a point where we’re still trying to figure out our powers. We’re at a point where we can actually help them. That builds our confidence, that we make it out of this episode alive and we keep surviving. It’s a little boost of confidence for them, that they were meant to do this. No matter what happens, we’ve got each other’s backs and we’re gonna save this world somehow.”

Aubrey Joseph on what will surprise fans the most in the crossover: “They’re gonna be surprised to see Cloak and Dagger come in and be more like, ‘Let’s get s–t done. We’re here for some reason. I don’t know how we got here, but we’re here.’ You see them not hesitating about their powers, at all. Tyrone and Tandy are at a point where they’re very confident with their powers. I just can’t wait for people to see it ‘cause the way that they pitched it to us was that it’s one of the biggest episodes, this season, and it is. It took a minute to shoot it, and it’s way bigger than you expect. Even if you expect big, it’s way bigger. I was really honored to be a part of that ‘cause this is a part of history. This is a big deal.”

Marvel's 'Runaways' to End with Season 3 - Watch the Final Season Trailer!

It was just announced that season three of Marvel’s Runaways will be the show’s final season and the first trailer was released ahead of the December 13 launch.

All ten episodes of the final season will premiere at once, so you’ll be able to binge it that weekend.

In an action-packed Season 3, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase, Gert, and Karolina. The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler Morgan le Fay, played by Elizabeth Hurley, is much more nefarious than anyone the kids have yet to face.

Marvel has been cutting back on the series that have previously been created as they get ready to launch a new Marvel television universe with Disney+ shows like WandaVision and Loki.

The only remaining Marvel series are ABC’s Agents of SHIELD, which will end after the upcoming season, as well as Hulu’s Helstrom and four animated series. The current Marvel television shows were produced by Jeph Loeb‘s TV division, but the upcoming shows will be produced by Kevin Feige‘s film division, according to THR.
