Ryan Beatty on Defying Musical Genres & His Productive Transitional Year

Ryan Beatty has been on our radar for nearly four years now, and we’re pumped to hear he’s gearing up for a whole new phase of his career.

At only 19 years old, the California native continues to reinvent himself with every bout of music he releases, as he settles into his own distinct sound.

While his first EP Because of You debuted at No. 1 on the pop charts with a catchy lead single in “Hey LA,” he brought more of a folksy singer-songwriter vibe with his 2013 self-titled EP, including the lyrically-haunting song “Chameleon.”

Now, Ryan is gearing up to drop all new music, as he hits the road with R&B duo Kalin and Myles through the fall season. JJJ got a first listen to some of Ryan‘s new stuff and we’re already huge fans of the natural evolution of his catalog.

Check out what he had to tell us about taking the next step in his career:

JustJaredJr.com: Hi Ryan, how was your summer?

Ryan Beatty: My summer was definitely very eventful. I went to a lot of different places and played a lot of shows, which was great for me. I was really happy I got to do all that. So now I’m just preparing for the tour and writing all the time. It’s going good.

JJJ: We haven’t caught up with you in a while. You’re busy working on some new music. How’s that going?

RB: It’s been really good. This year, I’ve definitely tapped into my feelings a little bit more. I found a way to express myself lyrically a little better, I think, differently than my past music. This year I’ve been inspired by a lot of different things and it’s transferred into my music. I’m in a really creative place right now.
