“All my music is so personal, I need to step away a little bit,” Sam told Jimmy Fallon. “And date a little bit, and see my family, and get in some arguments with my mom – haven’t had enough of those recently – so I can be inspired to right some more music. That’s the plan.”

The 23-year-old entertainer debuted the song on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show, where he chatted about the new track.
“[It's] the saddest song I’ve ever written and probably the least radio-friendly song I’ve ever written,” Sam said on the radio show about the song. “I thought of it recently when we were thinking about the repackage, and we went in and just did it with piano.”
The song will appear on the deluxe version of In The Lonely Hour, which will be out on November 6.

Sam Smith looks super dapper in his tux while making an appearance on the red carpet at the Spectre world premiere held at Royal Albert Hall on Monday (October 26) in London, England.
The 23-year-old singer was seen arriving at the airport the day before in time to attend the premiere to support his song “Writing’s On the Wall,” which is the film’s theme song.
Sam recently opened up about how hard the song is to sing live.
“I’ve only actually sung the song once, really. Because I did the demo in the studio, and they used that. It is horrible to sing. Horrible,” Sam said on The Graham Norton Show. “I almost regret — no, I don’t regret… It’s just so high. I have to grab my balls; it’s awful.”
Watch his live performance of the song from last week below!
