Sam Smith is going to be making a little less money from his song “Stay With Me” – he has agreed to give some of the royalties to the legendary singer Tom Petty.
Tom and his collaborator Jeff Lynne noticed that there are major similarities between their song “I Won’t Back Down” and Sam’s hit song, so they reached out to his team.
“Not previously familiar with the 1989 Petty/Lynne song, the writers of ‘Stay With Me’ listened to ‘I Won’t Back Down’ and acknowledged the similarity,” Sam‘s rep said in a statement to Billboard. “Although the likeness was a complete coincidence, all involved came to an immediate and amicable agreement in which Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne are now credited as co-writers of ‘Stay With Me’ along with Sam Smith, James Napier and William Phillips.”

Sam Smith was the victim of some absolutely horrible comments from radio host Howard Stern recently and the singer responded perfectly.
“Do you know what I love about that guy? He’s… ugly. He’s fat. And I love it,” the shock DJ said on his radio show. “You know what, he looks gay to me. Not that anybody looks gay but he does seem effeminate.
“I feel like that [“Stay With Me”] will be his only hit song. I’d like to get him in here and congratulate him on beating the odds,” Howard added.
Sam took to his Twitter account over the weekend to respond to the horrible comments in a perfect way.

Rumors are running rampant that Sam Smith and his new boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel have split!
The 22-year-old crooner sparked the breakup rumors at his concert on Tuesday evening with a speech on stage.
“When I fell in love with the person who inspired the majority of this record, I had this fight in me to basically end it when I could’ve carried on,” Sam said. “But I decided to write this song, and, the day before I wrote this song, I basically went on my phone, and I deleted their number and I deleted everything. The reason why this song is very special for me today is that I’ve actually had to do a very similar thing today with someone I’ve been seeing.”
There’s been no official confirmation – watch his speech below.

Iggy Azalea breaks into a sprint while arriving at Milk Studios with her dogs on Sunday (January 18) in West Hollywood, Calif.
The 24-year-old entertainer appears in the February 2015 issue of GQ magazine in a feature called “The Legacy Project.”
“You never know how long you’ll be in people’s good graces for, especially in this business,” Iggy told the mag. “So I hope it’s long—but I could be here for three or four years and then be out, like most artists. At the very worst, if I have a short-lived career, at least I could say I sparked a change—that I inspired some leniency in what people accept in hip-hop. And if I have a very long career and can be gyrating in a leotard at 35, then that would be great.”
Sam Smith also appears in the issue. You can check out his photo below!
