Shawn Johnson jumps into Derek Hough‘s arms after being declared safe on Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars results show on Tuesday night (September 25) in Los Angeles.
“On to the JIVE #shawnough #dwts #DWTSAllStars @derekhough,” the 20-year-old athlete tweeted from rehearsals the day after.
“Next week we have the jive and I can already see that Derek has crazy things planned,” Shawn told TODAY. “He saw the competition on Monday and instantly had a fire lit in him. We are going for another very high-energy fun dance and hopefully one that stands out on top!”
She added about the chemistry between her and Derek, “Getting me to come out of my shell and show emotion is difficult for me, and he’s really been working on that since day one. He’s been telling me over and over to just let go and have fun. Technique aside it’s about the showmanship and connection between him and I. He’s a great teacher and partner, and I can’t wait to see what he pushes me to do next week!”

“Oh no, you’re just divorced,” Derek joked during rehearsals with Shawn about not getting paired with her former partner, Mark Ballas. “I’m just your new husband.”

Shawn recently spoke to Access Hollywood about the competition for Dancing With The Stars: All Stars.
“The level of playing field, it’s a lot higher than it used to be,” Shawn said. “Everyone’s super competitive…There’s a lot tension, but, it’s good.”
Derek Hough hangs out with two of his favorite ladies — Shawn Johnson and Maria Menounos — during the national Bing It On Challenge held at The Grove in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon (September 13).
During the event Maria and Derek challenged locals to see if they prefer Bing or Google, with challenges including dance-offs between two, arm wrestling matches, pies to the face, and hula hoop battles.
