Simon Cowell, who created 1D, said some very touching words to Louis after the performance, which took place days after his mom died.

The performance was scheduled before Louis‘ mom died and Simon opened up about how she was looking forward to seeing her son perform.

Louis, I have to say something to you. I’ve known you now for six years. What you’ve just done, and the bravery, I respect you as an artist. I respect you as a person,” Simon said. “Your mom was so proud of you Louis and she was so looking forward to tonight. She’s watching down on you now and you’ve done her proud.”

Will One Direction Ever Reunite? Simon Cowell Weighs In!

Will One Direction Ever Reunite? Simon Cowell Weighs In!

If you are holding out hope for One Direction‘s “hiatus” to be short, you may be waiting a while.

Simon Cowell recently opened up about the launching of their solo careers and whether the guys – Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson – would ever get back together.

“I don’t know is the answer,” Simon told The Sun. “I think there would be such an appetite amongst the fans for a reunion, whether it was a tour or a record.”

“They are going to have successful solo careers that is assured as much as it can be,” he continued. “They have got to make great records but I reckon they will…I wouldn’t rule anything out. With these guys, I left the decisions up to them. They were all out of contract when it ended so apart from Zayn Malik who was under an existing option no one else was under contract.”

Simon added, “My point is that I have always left the decisions up to them and they have made pretty good decisions and so I trust them.”

Simon Cowell Says Liam Payne Signing With Another Label is 'Annoying'

Simon Cowell Says Liam Payne Signing With Another Label is 'Annoying'

It sounds like Simon Cowell wasn’t too happy to hear about Liam Payne solo record deal with Capitol Records.

The 56-year-old music exec told The Sun, “It is a bit annoying if I am honest with youmainly because it is another label who has now got your artist who you worked with for so many years. But that is the music business, unfortunately. I don’t think anyone else from the band will do that.”

“We had spoken a lothim and Iabout what he wanted to do next,” Simon added. “But I guess he read about Harry [Styles]‘s deal and thought we weren’t interested. My impression was that he wasn’t in any hurry to make a record because he discussed this last year. He was more into songwritingOf course there is a part of you that goes, ‘Maybe we should have had the conversation.’ That maybe is my fault but it has happened now.”

As for Harry staying with Sony, Simon said, “We spoke about this a long time ago and certain artists do prefer to be signed to an American label and he spends a lot of time over here. This was something we were very instrumental in and it was the result we all wanted so it was great.”

Liam Payne Signs With New Management, Simon Cowell Hints at Disloyalty

Liam Payne Signs With New Management, Simon Cowell Hints at Disloyalty

Liam Payne is breaking out of his boy band shell.

The 22-year-old former One Direction singer just signed a new management deal with Doyen Global, distancing himself more from Simon Cowell.

Meanwhile, Simon recently left Liam‘s name out when talking about loyalty.

“The great thing about these boys well, not all of them, but most of them they are incredibly loyal and you don’t always expect that,” Simon told Yahoo. “Niall [Horan], Harry [Styles], Louis [Tomlinson]… amazing.”

Simon Cowell Talks Zayn Malik, Harry Styles' Solo Career, & Why One Direction Was a 'Nightmare'

Simon Cowell opens up all about One Direction for the new Billboard magazine cover story.

The 56-year-old music executive talked about Zayn Malik and Harry Styles‘ solo careers, and more. Check it:

On whether or not One Direction is broken up for good: “I don’t know if it’s a hiatus or a breakup, to be honest. In a weird way, I don’t want to know.”

On Zayn: “Zayn is still signed to our company. But the boys hadn’t bought into the fact that he was leaving, so out of respect for them, it wasn’t the right thing to put him on Syco…”

On Harry recording a solo album: “He’ll work out what kind of record he wants to make because he’s got great taste — which is always a help. All the writers and producers want to work with him, understandably, but he probably won’t rush into it.”

Simon also joked to the mag that 1D was “a nightmare” to work with right after X Factor. “They were like five puppies — really excited, loads of opinions, always wanted to hang out.”

Zayn Malik's Comments About One Direction's Music Was 'Rude,' Says Simon Cowell

Zayn Malik's Comments About One Direction's Music Was 'Rude,' Says Simon Cowell

Music exec Simon Cowell is not pleased with former One Direction band mate Zayn Malik.

It all stems back from the 22-year-old entertainer’s interview with The Fader last month, where he called 1D’s music “generic.”

“If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f—, so they could use that version. Whenever I would suggest something, it was like it didn’t fit us,” Zayn said.

“There was just a general conception that the management already had of what they want for the band, and I just wasn’t convinced with what we were selling,” Zayn continued. “I wasn’t 100 percent behind the music. It wasn’t me. It was music that was already given to us, and we were told this is what is going to sell to these people. As much as we were the biggest, most famous boy band in the world, it felt weird. We were told to be happy about something that we weren’t happy about.”

Simon gave an interview to The Mirror, where he was asked about Zayn‘s comments.

“It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them. And to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff,” Simon said. “I think once he has had a chance to reflect on everything he will probably reconsider what he’s said because it was a very, very democratic process in the band.”
