Ryn protects the other mermaids in this new still from tonight’s all-new Siren.
In “The Wolf at the Door”, Ben (Alex Roe), Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola) and Ryn (Eline Powell) desperately try and keep the newly arrived mermaid pack hidden from the rest of the town, but the new mermaids’s quick degradation on land forces them to get them back to the sea unnoticed during the town’s Mermaid Beauty Contest.
Meanwhile, Elaine grows more suspicious of Helen and her connections to their family.
Siren airs TONIGHT, January 31st @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.
She plays a mermaid on television, but Eline Powell might as well be a mermaid in real life too.
The Siren star opened up in a new interview, revealing that “the water is my best friend at this point.”
“Natural ocean water is really cold, but they heat up the tank sometimes, and that’s quite a nice experience,” Eline added about how she prepares for Ryn’s role in the water.
Eline also revealed that since being in the water for the series, every one of her senses has gotten better.
“That goes with the show training me and our just shooting so much, but I’ve also gotten my freediving license and my scuba-diving license, and I’m starting to notice that my eyesight is better under water and that I can hold my breath longer,” she shared. “It really feels like my body is adapting more and more … which is great, because we want to do better and better with the scenes.”
Television is about to get its’ first ever mermaid thruple in Siren‘s Ben, Maddie and Ryn.
Showrunner Emily Whitesell shared with TVLine that the series couldn’t tease what was ahead anymore.
“We teased it a lot in the first year,” she says. “It would be unfair to the audience if we just teased it forever without getting to what we’re trying to land on. We could only dance around that polyamorous relationship for so long, and we really did hold off.”
She adds, “We’re trying to address the world we live in and how we feel about other each other. People aren’t as into labels anymore, and everything doesn’t have to be defined so perfectly and be so restrictive. This is the world we live in, and it’s the way a lot of people want to live their lives.” This new romantic formation differs from the “traditional” TV love triangles “where there’s jealousy and everyone is at each other’s throats.”
“Ryn leaves, and I don’t think she actually quite understands what it is that is being such a problem, other than she does know her song is having a very bad effect on Ben,” Eline shared. “I think she can put together that it has permeated through Ben and Maddie’s relationship, too. So, in Season 2, you will find her trying to live her life at Helen’s and what that means.”

Siren is back in just a little over a month and Freeform’s started to tease the brand new season with new pics and promos!
The series will return with even more mermaids invading the once-sleepy fishing town of Bristol Cove after an oil company forces them to the surface.
Meanwhile, marine researchers Ben (Alex Roe) and Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola) continue to establish a bond with mermaid Ryn (Eline Powell), not only to protect her but to try to help save her entire civilization.
Season two will also bring new guest stars, including Natalee Linez as Nicole, a mysterious woman with her own agenda who catches Xander’s (Ian Verdun) eye when she moves to town, distracting him from the painful death of his father; and Garcelle Beauvais as Susan Bishop, Maddie’s mother, who returns to Bristol Cove to start over by making amends with the family she abandoned ten months earlier.
Alex Roe, Eline Powell, and Fola Evans-Akingbola pose together just after the Siren panel during New York Comic Con 2018 held at Javits Center on Thursday night (October 4) in New York City.
The three stars chatted about the upcoming season and released a brand new trailer for the series, which shows even more mer-people coming to the short.
If you don’t know, Siren centers on Bristol Cove, a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids.
When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean.
The trio was joined by co-stars Ian Verdun and Rena Owen while discussing the second season of their hit Freeform series.
During the panel, moderated by TLC‘s Chilli, the show’s EP Eric Wald teased more mermaids coming to Bristol Cove for season two.
“It will give us a chance to dig even more into the mermaid mythology,” he said (via Entertainment Weekly). “What their lives are like, what their social structures are like… We’re really interested in the smaller moments, too — like does a mermaid know how to laugh or know what laughter is?”
