Sorcha Groundsell steps out for the screening of her new series, The Innocents, held at Curzon Mayfair on Monday night (August 20) in London, England.
The young actress was joined by co-stars Percelle Ascott and Guy Pearce at the premiere, as well as many friends.
“I definitely tapped into the slightly darker side of it, which is really what sets it apart,” Sorcha shared about the new series. “It was described to me initially as a mix between True Romance and the Swedish vampire film Let The Right One In, and I think that is weirdly accurate.”
She adds that the show is not just “one thing. It’s romance and characters who happen to be quite young, but it’s also very dark and very psychological, and scary at parts.”
The Innocents will debut on Netflix THIS Friday, August 24th.

Here’s the synopsis: When teenagers Harry (Percelle Ascott) and June (Sorcha Groundsell) run away from their repressive families to be together, they’re derailed by an extraordinary discovery – June’s ability to shape-shift.
As the star-crossed lovers struggle to control this strange new power, a mysterious professor reveals that June is not alone: there are more shifters out there like her, and he promises to cure June and reunite her with the mother who deserted her three years ago.
But as their journey becomes increasingly fraught with danger, Harry and June’s love for each other is tested to breaking point and they’re faced with a choice: keep their innocent dream alive, or embrace that their lives have changed and risk everything.
Sorcha Groundsell and Percelle Ascott hype up their new Netflix series, The Innocents, during the 2018 Television Critics’ Association panel held on Sunday (July 29) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The two stars were joined by co-star Guy Pearce, as well as creators Hania Elkington and Simon Duric.
The eight-part series centers on June McDaniel (Groundsell), who on her 16th birthday runs away with her boyfriend Harry Polk (Ascott), the son of a police officer. But as the young star-crossed lovers soon realize, June’s father had a reason to curtail her activities.
It turns out she’s a shape-shifter, which leads to some freaky and dangerous situations.
June can’t control her newfound ability, but she encounters a couple of people who promise that they have the answers, whether it’s a cure or a way to train her. But even as June is trying to figure out who she can trust, her relationship with Harry begins to snap under pressure.
Their dream of a life together no longer fits with this new reality, and their feelings for and trust in each other are tested.
