Stephen Amell Gets Candid After Suffering a Panic Attack During an Interview

Stephen Amell is opening up about suffering a panic attack in the middle of an interview.

The 38-year-old Arrow actor explained that he was in a bad place while speaking on the Inside of You podcast, which he ended up having to cut short.

“I did Rosey’s podcast after Arrow ended. We had to cut it short because I had a full on panic attack. It wasn’t pretty. I came back a few weeks ago to chat about it. I was in a really bad spot and I’m happy to report that I’m doing much better,” Stephen wrote on his Twitter.

During the interview, Stephen explained that he was “struggling” with the end of Arrow and was feeling “mentally exhausted.”

Soon after, he can be heard asking, “Is it hot in here or am I just sweating?” and later stopping the interview. “I’m not feeling well at all. I think I just got to go. I just kind of want to walk. I just need fresh air,” Stephen explained.

When Stephen returned to finish the interview several weeks later, he said he previously hadn’t processed his feelings about Arrow and speaking out his feelings had triggered him. He added that he also checked in with a doctor, who gave him a clean bill of health.

We’re glad Stephen is in a better mental space now!

Stephen Amell Talks 'Crisis' Death Scene Frustrations & Doing Season 8 'For The Money'

Stephen Amell Talks 'Crisis' Death Scene Frustrations & Doing Season 8 'For The Money'

Stephen Amell recently opened up about the final season of his hit show Arrow.

The series will wrap up with the final episode next week, and the 38-year-old actor talked about his frustrations over filming his death scene in the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover.

“They come out great, the fans love them… [but] I always think of what we leave on the table because we try and do something really extraordinary and with this amazing scope within the confines of our typical schedule. It’s never made any sense to me,” he said about the crossovers on the “Inside of You” podcast.

“They were trying to wrap [scene partners] Caity [Lotz] and Grant [Gustin]… before I shot the coverage of the scene where I died,” he continued. “I blame no one for this, but this is a scene with me from Arrow that’s taking place on Supergirl, with a Supergirl crew, with demands on both Grant and Caity… and they’re trying to pull them so that Flash and Legends don’t mess up their day the next day.”

“Meanwhile, the f–king Green Arrow was laying on a gurney trying to deliver his lines to something other than a f–king tennis ball. So, there are lots of scenes where I’m acting and there just aren’t other actors there, and that is just not an acceptable way of creating the best product, from my perspective,” he added.

He also dished that he was ready to end Arrow after season seven, but did the final season more so for the money.

“I got the proverbial ‘offer that I couldn’t refuse.’ They say, ‘Well, you’ll have to shoot 22 episodes with us [for Season 7]… which is July through April,” Stephen shared. “Are you really telling us you want to do 22 at Price X and finish in April, and not do 32 at this price, and be done in October?’ Because if you’re renegotiating, they change your episodic fee. I looked at it, and it would have been fiscally irresponsible for me to say no. Just fiscally irresponsible. I loved the s–t out of Season 8, I had a blast, but I was there for the money. More so than I had ever been.”
