Freeform Cancels 'Stitchers' After Mysterious Season Three Finale

Freeform Cancels 'Stitchers' After Mysterious Season Three Finale

We can’t believe that Stitchers, which had the most intense season three finale, has been cancelled at Freeform.

The show, which starred Emma Ishta, Kyle Harris, Allison Scagliotti, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Damon Dayoub and Ritesh Rajan, will not get a fourth season on the network, THR is reporting.

The trade also reports that the show had less than 400,000 total viewers for its’ third season finale, which is sad. This was a great show. Why aren’t people watching?

We mean, did anyone WATCH the finale? AND THAT ending with Kirsten and the mysterious person who told her to LIE to Cameron’s face? We still need to know who that was!

BRB, going to cry an ocean about this…

'Stitchers' Writers Reveal A Secret About The Show You Never Knew

'Stitchers' Writers Reveal A Secret About The Show You Never Knew

Stitchers is one of JJJ‘s favorite shows and most of you know — the suspense always kills us, and delights us all at once.

The Freeform series centers on Kirsten Clark, who has a special ability of being able to be “stitched” into the minds of people who have recently died to use their memories to investigate murders.

Season three of the show just wrapped up, and to hold us over until the news about season four comes (it’s coming, we know it), the writers room shared a super cool tidbit with fans.

“Here’s a Friday fun #Stitchers fact for you: Most pilots get sent to networks and they go through months and months of development,” they write. “Most of the time, those pilots never even see the light of day. Only a handful will ever go into production.”

However, that wasn’t the case with Stitchers.

“#Stitchers was sent to the network on a Friday. It was picked up the following Monday – 48 hours later. The network had zero notes.”

They added, “There were a few instances where we would try to change something and the execs always asked why. They said the script was perfect as is.”

How cool is that?!

'Stitchers' Gut-Wrenching Season Finale Ending Scene Wasn't In The Original Script At All

'Stitchers' Gut-Wrenching Season Finale Ending Scene Wasn't In The Original Script At All

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Anyone else still shook from that Stitchers end scene on last night’s season finale? Because we are.

Here’s what happened: After Kirsten’s latest stitch, the team was informed that it interfered with her long-term memory, and she no longer remembers any of them – including Cameron.

However, she actually does! It looked to all be a bluff because you see Kirsten, at the end saying to someone off camera: “I will never forgive you for what you’re making me do to him.”

OUR CAMSTEN HEARTS YOU GUYS! What you didn’t know though is that particular scene wasn’t in the original script at all.

“Originally, that ending was not in the script,” star Kyle Harris revealed to TVLine. “The episode was supposed to end with Cameron leaving and Kirsten just sitting there, not remembering anything.”

He adds, “As we were shooting, I think we had three days left, our showrunner Jeff [Schechter] had this idea: What if someone came into the frame, but we don’t know who it is, and suddenly it goes from Kirsten not having her memory to doing a total 180 and dropping that line? That was the one-two punch I think we were missing.”

“We’ve seen the amnesia thing. When [Jeff] came up with that idea, it blew all of our minds. Who is she talking to? What does this mean? Who is she doing this for? It’s so much more intriguing.”

Uh, season 4 needs to happen right now! Right now!

Will 'Stitchers' Be Renewed For Season 4? Kyle Harris Says...

Fans waited so long to hear if Stitchers was coming back for season three, and we’re all crossing our fingers and praying it won’t take that long for a season four renewal.

Star Kyle Harris teased earlier that “there’s a big giant cliffhanger twist at the end that leaves us asking even more questions that would propel us into what I think would be the best season yet.”

And that “if this were to be a series finale, you would have some very angry teenage girls.” Obviously, we NEED another season!

“The twist is so poignant, the cast was tipping their hats to our showrunner for this one. None of us saw this one coming and we’re all very excited to see where it goes.”

Kyle opened up about his hopes for the series: “I would love to see the stitchers program go public, so you can play the fun of them being a little bit of celebrities. I would also love the consequences of could it possibly fall into the wrong hands and what that means if it does.”

Stitchers' Kyle Harris Reveals His Favorite Ever Camsten Scene

This moment with Cameron and Kirsten walking hand in hand from the Stitchers season finale is Kyle Harris‘s favorite.

“It’s not only because it’s a moment with Cameron and Kirsten, but it is kind of a penultimate moment for the two for the show,” he shared with Hidden Remote about the scene.

Kyle adds, “Their entire purpose of getting together, of meeting, was to essentially find her mother and solve these cases, and this is the biggest case they’ve been looking for despite all of the other in-between cases.”

“To have that slo-mo moment of two of them walking up to this…it’s almost a bit of a weird wedding procession in a way, you know? Kind of like they’re walking down the aisle in this moment together, hand in hand, and I think it was kind of a beautiful moment because it was also the finale and it’s the climax of what they’ve been working towards the entire series.”

You’ll definitely have to watch the finale tonight to see what all goes down.

Stitchers airs TONIGHT @ 9PM ET/PT on Freeform.

Kyle Harris is dishing on the highly anticipated season 3 finale of Freeform’s Stitchers!

In a recent interview, the actor assured fans that the episode, titled “Maternis,” will definitely shed light on their unanswered questions.

It will feature Kirsten (Emma Ishta) and her father (guest star C. Thomas Howell) undergoing the most important stitch of her life, which involves her living mother.

“It gives us the answers we have been wanting,” Kyle, aka Cameron, told Entertainment Tonight. “This season finale is a culmination of all the mythology that we have been watching throughout these first three seasons. Everything that has to do with the purpose of the program, who picks the stitch cases, what is going on with Kirsten’s parents, all of that comes to a head. This is the stitch of all stitches. We are going into somewhat uncharted territory.”

So, will Camsten finally get to live happily ever after?
