Netflix's 'Trollhunters' Was Almost Made Into A Live Action Series

Netflix's 'Trollhunters' Was Almost Made Into A Live Action Series

It’s not really a question of any sort that JJJ is obsessed with Trollhunters on Netflix.

The series returns with it’s second installment today and we are counting down the hours until we’re off of work so we can binge watch like we were meant to — but this new piece of info about the animated show totally caught us by surprise.

Did you know that Trollhunters could’ve actually been just like Stranger Things?!

In a new interview with creator Guillermo del Toro, he revealed the original pitch was eerily similar to what we’re seeing now with Stranger Things.

“When I pitched the show first in 2006, it was as a live-action television series, and it was very similar to Stranger Things,” he shared. “It was going to be in suburbia, with monsters, and a larger plot, with kids on bicycles, same everything, just like that.”

But, it didn’t happen, and just like us, he’s happy about that.

“I’m very glad we didn’t do it [as live-action]. I’m very glad we did it animated,” he added. “I was able to distill the purity of that, and I think that it’s much better to remind kids that you can find a certain sense of purity, even with the computers, and cellphones, and everything that is a screaming social media view – there is a place for imagination, and emotional purity, and good heart.”

Trollhunters Part 2 is streaming now on Netflix.

Stranger Things' Caleb McLaughlin Admits He Was Nervous About His Kiss With Sadie Sink

Stranger Things' Caleb McLaughlin Admits He Was Nervous About His Kiss With Sadie Sink

Just a few months ago, there was a big controversy about Caleb McLaughlin and Sadie Sink‘s on-screen kiss in Stranger Things season 2.

Since then, not only has Sadie opened up about it, Caleb has too — and also revealed that he was quite nervous about it.

“Very nervous, very nervous. I wasn’t ready,” he says during his appearance on Harry on Wednesday, December 13th.

Caleb adds, “It was very interesting and entertaining as well because what got me through it it was like 242 extras…I don’t really know the numbers…242 extras watching and they were also fans of the show and they were caught up in the Eleven and Mike thing going on.”

He adds that they actually had to do the kiss a lot more times than he thought.

“We had to do it like 100 times,” Caleb says. “It’s crazy.”

FYI: Caleb is wearing a Sandro outfit and Koio shoes.

Is 'Stranger Things' Season 3 Coming Later Than We Think?

Is 'Stranger Things' Season 3 Coming Later Than We Think?

When exactly is Stranger Things season three premiering??

In a recent interview, David Harbour, who plays Chief Hopper, opened up about the just announced third season possibly being delayed due to the writers needing more time to work on the scripts.

“I mean, one of the things that’s annoying for fans is that it takes us a long time to do them. You probably won’t get [Season 3] until sometime in 2019,” he told Variety. “But also part of the thing is, like any good thing, they need time. And those guys work so hard. I mean, they just sit in their apartment and write for 12, 14 hours a day.”

The show just picked up two Golden Globe nominations – Best Television Series, Drama and Best Performance By an Actor In A Supporting Role In A Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made For Television for David.

Sadie Sink Is Hoping For More Girl Power in 'Stranger Things' Season 3

Sadie Sink Is Hoping For More Girl Power in 'Stranger Things' Season 3

Sadie Sink‘s Max is already one of our fave characters on Stranger Things, solely for her clapback to on-screen brother Billy in season 2.

Now that the show has been greenlit for another season, the young actress already knows what she wants to see in the future episodes.

“I’d love to see some girl power, maybe like Max, Eleven, and Nancy all team up or something like that,” Sadie told Bustle. “That’d be pretty cool.”

She continues with her idea, “I think Eleven and Max could make a really good team.”

“[I want to] have more scenes with Millie,” Sadie admits, after only sharing one scene with Millie Bobby Brown in the most recent season.

She says of their friendship off-screen, “[Millie and I] would still hang out on set, but at the same time I want Eleven and Max to have their friendship. I don’t want to be left off of that, so I’m hoping that’s resolved.”

'13 Reasons Why' & 'Stranger Things' Top Twitter's TV Lists 2017

'13 Reasons Why' & 'Stranger Things' Top Twitter's TV Lists 2017

It’s not really a surprise that 13 Reasons Why and Stranger Things were two of Twitter’s top television shows for 2017.

In the year in review list that the social media platform released, it reveals that not only were the two Netflix shows #1 and #2 on the “most tweeted about streaming TV shows” list, but also on the plain “TV shows” list too!

Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Sense8, Narcos, The Get Down, The Handmaid’s Tale, Bojack Horseman and Daredevil joined the shows on the most tweeted about streaming TV shows.

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones topped the most tweeted about TV shows list, with Stranger Things following, Big Brother, then 13 Reasons Why, with Saturday Night Live, The Walking Dead, Grey’s Anatomy, The Voice, Supernatural, and Pretty Little Liars rounding out the top 10.

'Stranger Things' Is Coming Back for a Third Season!

'Stranger Things' Is Coming Back for a Third Season!

Who’s ready to head back to the Upside Down? That’s right! Stranger Things is back for a third season!

The hugely successful supernatural series will be returning for a third season, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. A return date is not yet known at this time.

“Our kids are aging. We can only write and produce the show so fast. They’re going to be almost a year older by the time we start shooting season three. It provides certain challenges. You can’t start right after season two ended. It forces you to do a time jump. But what I like is that it makes you evolve the show. It forces the show to evolve and change, because the kids are changing. Even if we wanted it to be static and we wanted to continually recycle the same storyline – and we don’t – we would be unable to, just because the kids are changing,” Matt Duffer told THR.

“Last year, we had a lot of little cliffhangers at the end of the season. We didn’t want to do that again. We didn’t want to box ourselves in for season three. We wanted to be able to start season three on a very clean slate.”

We can’t wait for the next season to begin!

Stranger Things' Noah Schnapp Found Out He Got The Part of Will While He Was At Camp

Stranger Things' Noah Schnapp Found Out He Got The Part of Will While He Was At Camp

There are some really cute audition stories out here — but Stranger ThingsNoah Schnapp‘s has to the best one.

Speaking with NKD magazine in their November issue, the actor who plays Will Byers on the show, revealed that he was actually at camp when he learned he got the part.

“I go to camp every summer for seven weeks and it’s like sleepaway camp,” Noah explains. “You have three phone calls every summer with your parents and I was on my last phone call. And this was some audition blurred with all the other auditions I did, so I didn’t remember what it was, but I remember them calling me.”

He adds that the project was as originally called Montauk, and he auditioned for the role of Mike.

“They called me and they were like, ‘Hey, Noah!’ and I was like, ‘Who’s this?’ and they said, ‘Oh, you got the role of Will Byers on Montauk!’ and then they explained the whole thing and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ and I was so excited and things have just been going from there.”

Noah also adds that the unique storyline truly pulled him in from the start.

“It was just very different from things I’ve seen,” he says. “I’ve never seen any story like that, where a kid goes missing and there’s monsters, but there’s a girl with powers who comes in and saves them.”

He adds, “I thought it would be really cool to play a role where I go missing and people look for me and I’m in this other world.”

Stranger Things is streaming now on Netflix.
