From what we know, Stranger Things season 3 will only be eight episodes long and set during the summer.

“Season 3 is set in the summer, so right out of the gate that’s a big difference,” Shawn recently shared. “The first two seasons were very much school-based.”

He added, “This is that time of year where it’s not about school, it’s about the swimming pool and campfires and parades and Fourth of July and fireworks, so there’s kind of a poppy fun to season 3 that’s really enjoyable before things inevitably turn super dark.”

Stranger Things season three is expected to debut next year.

'Stranger Things' Is Heading to Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights!

Universal Studios is getting a new addition to their Halloween Horror Nights – Stranger Things!

It was just announced that the hit Netflix show will be joining American Horror Story and The Walking Dead with it’s own haunted house.

“From the menacing Hawkins National Laboratory, under the U.S. Department of Energy, to the Byers home adorned with an erratic display of flashing Christmas lights and the eerie Upside Down woods oozing a shower of floating orb-like spores, the chilling new mazes will offer surprising twists and unexpected turns around every corner,” Universal said in a statement, via Variety.

The town of Hawkins will be recreated at the theme park and guests will be able to walk through the town while getting chased down by season one monster Demogorgon.

The Stranger Things exhibit will hit the Universal Studios locations in Hollywood and Orlando starting September 14, and in Singapore starting September 28!

We know you’re craving all the details you can get about Stranger Things season three – good thing we have them!

EP Shawn Levy spoke with Variety at the PaleyFest event over the weekend about the forthcoming season, which will be eight episodes long.

First thing, the season won’t be set during school time.

“Season 3 is set in the summer, so right out of the gate that’s a big difference,” he shared.

Shawn did confirm that the Shadow Monster is still around too.

“The Shadow Monster is still lurking up there out there in the Upside Down,” he says. “He is determined to find a way to achieve his goals. The dogs didn’t get it done in season two, so he’s going to have some new strategies.”

Stranger Things season three will start production next month.
