Jenna Ortega 100%, absolutely relates to her Stuck in the Middle character Harley in the brand new Stuck at Christmas movie.

Not only do we see Harley get the middle seat in the show normally, but she’s back in that one seat for Christmas too — and what’s even funnier though is that this happens in her real family!

“I have done this same thing,” Jenna told us ahead of the premiere. “[My family and I] traveled to Utah for Christmas to visit family one year and it was a 12 hour car ride.”

“My booty started to hurt sitting in the car, we were pushing each other off,” she explains of the seating arrangement hierarchy in big families. “Like Harley, I’m always stuck in that middle seat and all my real siblings are leaning on me to fall asleep.”

“They’ll lay their heads on my shoulders and it’s so uncomfortable and we’re always pushing each other.”

Jenna continues, “We’ll start off normal and it’s all very calm and hanging out, but then by the end, we’re all arguing with each other, you’re in my seat, stop touching me…I can totally relate to Harley and the Diaz family.

When we told her to call dibs on one of the other seats, Jenna told us it does not work that way: “They never let me sit anywhere else! It’s the because I’m the smallest in the family and that middle seat is the smallest too. It’s not fair at all.”

Don’t forget that Stuck at Christmas also leads into season three of Stuck in the Middle!

“I love that we do that because it just gets everyone excited for the new season,” Jenna shared with us.

Stuck in the Middle is actually one of the only series on Disney Channel that does that.

Jenna adds, “It’s a prep for the new season. We shoot the movies first and then go into the episodes, and it’s nice to have that extra long first episode and the other ones that we film afterwards, are more chaotic too shoot, so having that movie lead in is really nice.”

With just a few days to go until the Stuck in the Middle holiday movie — and we’ve got all the good details from star Jenna Ortega!

In Stuck in Christmas, Harley convinces the rest of her family to take a trip to Florida to visit their abuela for Christmas because they haven’t seen her in a long time.

“But this is the Diaz family,” Jenna says, “So of course, chaos ensues and we go on this big crazy adventure that leaves us to the middle of nowhere with no cash, no credit cards and no phones.”

When we chatted with her about the funniest scenes fans will get to watch, Jenna pointed out that Malachi Barton and Nicolas Bechtel, who play twins Beast and Lewie, get all good ones.

“The boys always make jokes at the worst times,” she tells us. “They’re like the perfect comedic relief there.”

One of the funniest they filmed though was a karaoke scene!

“One of the scenes that fans will really enjoy is where the kids have a lip syncing party, and we were all lip syncing to a song,” Jenna shares. “It was a lot like the Carpool Karaoke, because we were in a bus and it was all of us, and it was so much fun to shoot.”

Stuck at Christmas will debut on Disney Channel THIS Friday, December 8th!

If you look all the promos for Stuck in the Middle‘s upcoming movie event, Stuck at Christmas, you’ll notice that someone is definietly missing — Ronni Hawk!

So, where is she? It wouldn’t be a Diaz adventure without Ronni‘s character, eldest daughter Rachel, in the show — and lucky for you, JJJ found out exactly where Rachel is during the movie event, which premieres next week.

In reality, Ronni was actually working on another project during the production dates for the movie.

The Stuck in the Middle holiday movie — Stuck at Christmas — premieres NEXT WEEK!

JJJ sat down with star Jenna Ortega to chat about the movie where she opened up about her absolute favorite scenes, and what exactly the Iron Elf is.

“It’s really funny because we don’t actually know what it’s about,” Jenna confessed about the main event in the movie. “We’re going to call it an obstacle course for now.”

It’s no surprise at all that those were some of her favorite scenes to film though, even if she feels like one of the producers is out to get her with them.

“I think the producer on our show always puts Harley in these situations on purpose,” Jenna told us, laughing about it. “She told me the other day that I could be on one of those obstacle type of shows, because of all the stuff she has me do.”

She adds, “For the movie leading into season two at the water park, and there was an obstacle course there and for this one, it’s just crazier.”

After the movie was announced, fans started to draw comparisons between it and the Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas special — and Jenna‘s taking them as a compliment because she was one of the biggest GLC fans ever!

“I was so excited to do a Christmas movie with the show because the Good Luck Charlie one was filmed in Palm Springs, which is where I’m from,” she explained.

And once she knew the plot of the Stuck at Christmas movie, Jenna loved paying homage to the long-running series: “I was freaking out about it and we’re like GLC over here…For that movie, they had the whole family and we have an even bigger family so it was more chaotic and more crazy. It was just so much fun to film.”

Harley is all about making it to her grandmother’s for Christmas in the new Stuck in the Middle movie trailer.

In the upcoming special movie, “Stuck at Christmas”, Harley (Jenna Ortega) rallies her siblings and parents to take a trip to Florida to celebrate Christmas with their abuela, but in true Diaz fashion, things go awry.

One rerouted flight, an unintended pit stop and a damaged rockstar tour bus later, the Diazes find themselves stranded in a small town without phones, credit cards or money, where they must compete with the town residents in an “Iron Elf” competition to get their bus repaired and make it to Abuela’s in time for Christmas.

It looks like one of the seven Diaz kids are getting their own room — Harley just isn’t sure who, and when Georgie (Kayla Maisonet) catches wind of it, she’s already planning what to do with all that space.

“Stuck in a New Room”, where all the kids are competing in the “Diaz Decathlon” to claim the room as theirs, airs TONIGHT, September 15th @ 8:30PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.

The Stuck in the Middle actress has been getting so much love from her Disney Channel co-stars today.

“Happy Happy Birthday to my fellow Floridian and big sister @ronnihawk,” Ariana Greenblatt captioned the cute Instagram photo below, along with lots of unicorn and kissing face emojis.

“This was from the very first time we met as official Diaz sisters,” Ariana added. “I love you Ronni and hope your having an amazing day #diazsisterhood #disneyfamily.”

Their other co-stars Malachi Barton, Nicolas Bechtel, and Cerina Vincent shared their birthday tributes as well.
