Suraj Sharma is heading to television.
The 21-year-old actor, most recently seen in Million Dollar Arm, has joined Showtime’s Homeland in a recurring role as Aayan Ibrahim, a Pakistani medical student who crosses paths with Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), Entertainment Weekly reports.
In other casting news, Prince Harry‘s most recent girlfriend, Cressida Bonas has reportedly joined Tulip Fever with Cara Delevingne and Holliday Grainger.
Tulip Fever is a 17th-century love story in which an artist falls for a married young woman while he’s commissioned to paint her portrait. The two invest in the risky tulip market in hopes to build a future together.

On his character, Rinku Singh in Million Dollar Arm: “Like me, Singh was thrown into a situation that came purely out of luck—and he had to do it. That’s where I found my connection with him. Stuff’s just happening around you, and to you, and somehow you’re far away from it and right in the middle at the same time.”
On his baseball skills: “I pitch nowhere near as fast as, like, a 10-year old who knows how to play. But what’s important is looking like I can do it.”

Out on May 16th, the drama flick focuses on the fate of JB Bernstein’s (Hamm) career as a sports agent rests with finding an exceptionally gifted young cricket pitcher in India, who can be trained for an American major league baseball team.

The flick tells the story of JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm), a once-successful sports agent who now finds himself edged out by bigger, slicker competitors. While watching Indian cricket late at night, JB comes up with an idea so radical it just might work. Why not go to there and find the next baseball pitching sensation?
JB stages a televised, nationwide competition called “Million Dollar Arm” where 40,000 hopefuls compete before two 18-year-old finalists, Rinku (Sharma) and Dinesh (Mittal), emerge as winners and JB brings them back to the United States to train with legendary pitching coach Tom House. The goal: get the boys signed to a major league team.

Suraj Sharma has joined the cast of the upcoming flick Million Dollar Arm!
The 20-year-old Life of Pi actor will co-star alongside Mad Men actor Jon Hamm in the baseball drama which will be released through Disney.

According to The Wrap, the movie centers around a real-life sports agent (Hamm) who discovered professional pitchers Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh through a reality show he staged in India with 40,000 auditioning cricket players, who use a similar motion as baseball pitchers.
Suraj Sharma hits the red carpet at the 2013 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 24) in Hollywood.
The 19-year-old Life of Pi actor also joined the cast and crew at the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party held at Sunset Tower before heading out to the 20th Century Fox And Fox Searchlight Pictures’ Academy Award Nominees Celebration at Lure later in the night.
Life of Pi picked up the Best Director (for Ang Lee), Best Cinematography, Best Original Score and Best Visual Effects awards.
