Fans will have to say goodbye to Mehcad Brooks on Supergirl.

The actor, who plays James Olsen on the CW series (Superman’s best friend and Supergirl’s ex-boyfriend), is leaving the show during the first half of season five, Deadline reports.

It is unclear how he will exit the series, but he’s allegedly bidding farewell in order to spend more time on movies and a possible cable show.

“We love Mehcad and we’re sad to see him leave the show as as a series regular, but we’re excited for both Mehcad and James Olsen’s future,” the producers said in a statement. “He’ll always be a part of our Supergirl family and we look forward to James returning to National City at some point to visit his sister and his super friends.”

Season five of Supergirl premieres on October 6.

The actress – with some help from former co-stars Lauren Frost, who played Ren’s BFF Ruby, and George Anthony Bell, who played Principal Wexler – recreated the performance in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

If you recall, the musical number was performed in season two’s iconic “Influenza: The Musical” episode in 2002.

They’re joined by a classroom full of dancers in Christy‘s living room.

As Christy Carlson Romano said in the caption of the video, “Good luck getting this bop out of your head!” Watch it now.
