Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker & Carlos Valdes Dish on 'The Flash's New Villain

Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker & Carlos Valdes Dish on 'The Flash's New Villain

This season on The Flash, we don’t have a speedster as a villain on the show, and it’s not only a refreshing change for the audience, but for the cast as well.

Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker and Carlos Valdes all opened up to EW about The Thinker after last night’s episode, where we find out that he has a master plan for Central City.

For Carlos, who plays Cisco, this is the the villain he’s most excited about: “We live in the age of technology, millennials, and information, and having a villain whose powers are contingent upon information and his ability to store and assimilate information has an eerie relevance to how we live our lives today.”

Danielle, aka Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, adds that “it’s great that they’ve [writers] made the decision not to have this year’s villain be a Speedster. We’ve done lots of different versions of that over the past three years, and it’s going to be interesting to see how Team Flash adapts to a different kind of villain.”

She continues, “Hopefully, there’s a way for them to incorporate Vibe and Killer Frost and Caitlin and Cisco’s intelligence as well.”

Candice (Iris West) admits that most of the cast are out of the loop as to what’s actually happening next with The Thinker, too.

“I don’t really know where we’re going with that character quite yet. It’s very hush hush,” she shares. “I don’t know what their plans are…but I think the producers really wanted to move away from having a Speedster as the villain and just dealing with the issues of writing time travel, too, so it will free us up to do something different and exciting that we haven’t really done before on the show.”

“This season is markedly different than any other season we’ve done. There’s some big changes happening, and I think they’re really good changes.”

The Flash airs Tuesdays @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.

Barry & Iris Head to Couples Therapy on Tonight's 'The Flash'

Barry and Iris are tackling their problems head on with some couples therapy on tonight’s all new The Flash.

“Some things fly over his head, where he’s feeling good about himself, he’s feeling good about the team and he is trying to fall back into exactly what it was like before he left without realizing that they’ve had to pick up a lot of his responsibilities while he was gone,” Grant Gustin told EW about everyone’s favorite couple’s issues.

He adds, “Barry’s happy to have [Iris as the leader] once he realizes that it is what it is and roles have changed.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) breaches in for a hot date with Cisco (Carlos Valdes), but she gets annoyed when his work keeps them apart.

The Flash airs TONIGHT @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.
