Joey King Is Unrecognizable as Gypsy Blanchard in 'The Act' First Photos

You’re going to barely recognize Joey King when you see her in costume as Gypsy Blanchard for her role in the new Hulu series The Act!

The 19-year-old actress shaved her head for the show and she also wears fake teeth.

The Act, a seasonal anthology series that tells startling, stranger-than-fiction true crime stories, follows a girl trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother (Patricia Arquette). Her quest for independence opens a Pandora’s box of secrets, one that ultimately leads to murder.

“Getting into the emotion and getting into the character of Gypsy was something I was so excited to tackle, but I was also admittedly super-nervous for,” Joey told Entertainment Weekly. “This is the first time I’ve ever gotten the privilege to really, really transform myself for a role.”

“Transforming into Gypsy was one of the most challenging but most rewarding things I’ve ever done,” she added.

The Act premieres on Hulu on March 20!
