The Giver movie was one that JJJ had looked forward in 2014 and we were disheartened when it really didn’t live up to what we read in Lois Lowry‘s book of the same name…and it looks like we weren’t alone.
Jeff Bridges, who played the title character, opened up about the film with HuffPo Live. Check out what he had to say:
“It was difficult because I love the book, you know, and I’d been through many, many scripts trying to get the book right, and I knew there were all these fans. And then finally Harvey Weinstein said, ‘Oh, I’ll make that,’ but I knew getting Harvey involved [meant] I was going to have to let go of my vision, because he had ideas,” he shared.
Jeff added about the casting of Brenton Thwaites as Jonas, “I came to a fork in the road when they said ‘yeah we’ll make this film, but this is the way we want to make it’, I could have said, ‘well, thank you very much, bon voyage, I’m not gonna do that with you’ or just kind of take an adventure and realize that it wasn’t gonna be exactly how I imagined it. I just decided to do it sort of as a spiritual exercise in letting go.”

The 17-year-old actress opened up about her new film The Giver and what it was like working alongside the legendary Meryl Streep.

“When Meryl is in her character, you don’t see Meryl,” Odeya said. “She loses any drop of Meryl in her. It is real fear. It is real tears. That’s why I think actors are so good around her.”

Odeya Rush shines in silver while stepping out at the Meet the Filmmakers event for her new movie The Giver held at the Apple Store Soho on Tuesday (August 12) in New York City.
The 17-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-star Brenton Thwaites.

Odeya recently opened up about spending time with the cast in between filming.
“Jeff [Bridges] brought his guitar to set one day and we started having jam sessions during the breaks,” she told InStyle. “Brenton and Cameron [Monaghan] would also play guitar and I would sing. It was so much fun!”

Rumors are swirling that Taylor Swift has been cast in The Giver!
According to THR, the 23-year-old actress will co-star in the upcoming flick alongside Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites and Katie Holmes.

The flick is an adaptation of the popular young adult novel by Lois Lowry, and revolves around a young boy (Thwaites) who is selected for life service as the Receiver of Memories. He works with The Giver (Bridges), an older man who teaches the boy to use his sensory gifts.
Earlier this month, Taylor was spotted hanging out with Brenton at The Weinstein Company and eOne Entertainment Party during the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
