Shay Mitchell Weighs In On Emily Appearing on PLL Spin-off 'The Perfectionists'

Since the announcement that Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish were joining The Perfectionists, everyone is anxious to hear if the other Liars would be popping up — especially Emily.

Shay Mitchell chatted with TVLine about the possibility of that actually happening.

“It’s just difficult with all of our schedules right now,” Shay shared. “At the end of the day, regardless of whether I’m on it or not, I will 100-percent support the show and be a fan of it myself.”

“But we’re all just doing so many different things right now, so it’s hard to commit to something like that.”

We get it — Shay is currently working on You, plus she’s got a put pilot at ABC in The Heiresses, but we’ll still be crossing our fingers to see a little Emison on the show, too.

'The Perfectionists' Author Sara Shepard Dishes On How Sasha Pieterse & Janel Parrish's PLL Characters Will Fit Into The Show

Last month, we all flipped out that Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish were returning to Freeform as Ali and Mona on The Perfectionists

But what we were kind of worried and confused about is just how the characters would fit in, because they’re not part of the books at all.

Speaking with EpicReads, Sara Shepard opened up about it all, and more importantly, just how Alison DiLaurentis and Mona VanderWaal would fit in.

“I have read the pilot, and I love how Ali is written into the story,” she says. “Not to give away too much, but she plays a big part at the school, though she isn’t one of the characters from the book.”

Sara added, “Mona is a little bit more nebulous. She comes in at the end, but I have a feeling she’s going to be a major linchpin to the series. That stuff we saw with Mona at the end of PLL, when she was in Paris? I think that connects to this story somehow. But I’m not sure quite how yet!”

Sasha Pieterse On Seeing Emison in 'The Perfectionists': 'I Don't Think It Will Be A Problem at All'

Sasha Pieterse is keeping all our Emison hopes alive!

The actress and Dancing With The Stars competitor dished to ET about her new show, The Perfectionists, which starts filming next year.

“I don’t want to get in trouble, but I think it’s a year or two [after],” Sasha shared. “Honestly, I’m so glad that we’re kind of picking up where we left off. We left it in such a good place and I’m excited to be a mom, hell yeah!”

“I’m glad that I get to continue the character,” Sasha says of Alison DiLaurentis. “She’s amazing and I think, honestly, you’ll see a little bit more of a feisty side of her now that she’s in another element that she’s not used to.”

She also opened up about Emison and any hopes for Shay Mitchell to pop up on the show, even though she has her own with The Heiresses.

“I don’t think that will be a problem at all. I think the fans will really appreciate it, so that’s what we really care about anyway,” she said.

We’re ready for more Emison!

Sasha Pieterse's PLL Spinoff Actually Has Nothing To Do With 'Pretty Little Liars' At All

Sasha Pieterse's PLL Spinoff Actually Has Nothing To Do With 'Pretty Little Liars' At All

Sasha Pieterse might have shattered a bubble here, but The Perfectionists, which is being billed as a Pretty Little Liars spinoff, has nothing to do with PLL.

The 21-year-old actress spilled the tea after Dancing With The Stars last night with EOnline: “Sara Shepard who wrote PLL also wrote this book series. It has nothing to do with PLL, they’re just kind of putting my character into it.”

Sasha continues, “It’s still a murder mystery and it’s a really interesting plotline. I don’t think I can say anything yet!”

However, what she can tell you is that she’s known about this for A FULL YEAR!

“Obviously, I hadn’t been able to announce it yet,” Sasha says. “I didn’t know they were going to announce it today. People kept coming up to me and congratulating me and I’m like, ‘On what?’ And so I’m so excited that I get to talk about it now.”

She adds, “Janel‘s going to be in it with me. And [I.] Marlene [King,] our creator/producer for PLL is also the creator of this show, The Perfectionists. It’s a new journey. It’s an awesome journey. And I can’t wait to start.”

'Stitchers' Stars Kyle Harris & Ritesh Rajan Want To be A Part of 'The Perfectionists' & Janel Parrish Gives Her Approval

Ritesh Rajan and Kyle Harris have some ideas about this Pretty Little Liars spinoff, The Perfectionists…and we are here for them!

The Stitchers stars, whose show was cancelled on Freeform, are all game to hop on over to the spinoff show, opposite Janel Parrish and Sasha Pieterse.

“Perfect. I need a job. And surely one of them needs a nerdy boyfriend,” Kyle tweeted after the news was announced.

Janel is on board: “I’m here for this. @imarleneking?”

Ritesh also chimed in, adding his name to the list of people who want to be a part of the show: “If this happens I’m going to be jealous. Third wheel anyone?”

Obviously, Janel has the perfect part for Ritesh, who she’s been friends with for years.

We are 1000% on board with this too. So, let’s get this all signed and official, shall we?

'Pretty Little Liar's Spinoff: What is 'The Perfectionists' About?

'Pretty Little Liar's Spinoff: What is 'The Perfectionists' About?

We are so happy that our Pretty Little Liars obsession will continue with The Perfectionists!

You’ve probably heard of the books by now, written by PLL author Sara Shepard , but what are they actually about?

Here’s the book summary: In Beacon Heights, Washington, five girls—Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie, and Parker—know that you don’t have to be good to be perfect. At first the girls think they have nothing in common, until they realize that they all hate Nolan Hotchkiss, who’s done terrible things to each of them.

They come up with the perfect way to kill him—a hypothetical murder, of course. It’s just a joke…until Nolan turns up dead, in exactly the way they planned. Only, they didn’t do it. And unless they find the real killer, their perfect lives will come crashing down around them.

For the television series, which will bring back Alison De Laurentis (Sasha Pieterse) and Mona (Janel Parrish), the two series will connect and center on that same murder.

What are you waiting for? Go out and get that series NOW!

Ali and Mona are staying put on Freeform!

Pretty Little Liars stars Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish have joined The Perfectionists, a spinoff for the hot series.

Based off of another book series by Sara Shepard, showrunner I. Marlene King is connecting them with the PLL series.

Here’s the Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists summary: “Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents.”

“But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.”

I. Marlene King Says 'The Perfectionists' Might Actually Be a Spinoff of 'Pretty Little Liars'

I. Marlene King Says 'The Perfectionists' Might Actually Be a Spinoff of 'Pretty Little Liars'

Earlier this year, the internet was losing its’ mind over the possibility of another Pretty Little Liars spinoff happening.

Showrunner I. Marlene King is working on a new series for Freeform called The Perfectionists, which just happens to be based off the books by Sara Shepard, the same author who wrote the PLL books.

While it was all speculation then about this show actually being a spin-off, Marlene is giving us a little more information on the project.

When asked about the show and its’ ties to PLL, Marlene had this to say:

“You know there might be some truth to that, but my hands are tied and I’m not allowed to talk about it just yet. So hopefully we will get to share some news soon!”

Nope! We need answers NOW!
