Janel Parrish Hopes Mona's New Love Interest on 'The Perfectionists' Is Someone Like Mike

Janel Parrish Hopes Mona's New Love Interest on 'The Perfectionists' Is Someone Like Mike

Janel Parrish is opening up a little more about a possible new love interest for Mona on The Perfectionists.

While we were all hoping for Cody Christian to pop up on the series as Mike, which may or may not happen – the next best thing is someone like him, and Janel 100% approves of that.

Speaking with ET, she was estatic for Mona to get a little love on the new show.

“It’s about time! Mona deserves some love too! We saw her with two relationships. I really liked the Mona and Mike relationship, but since then she hasn’t really had love in her life,” she shared. “It’s nice to see that romantic side of her kind of come out because, you know, Mona has a lot of different sides.”

Janel‘s thoughts about Mona’s relationship: “I’d like to see her with someone like Mike, who is loving and kind, but I also think she likes the bad boys too, like Noel Kahn,” she teased.

And she’s not ruling out a love triangle, either: “I think that’d be fun.”

The Perfectionists debuts in 2019 on Freeform.

Janel Parrish Dishes on 'The Perfectionists' Location: 'It's More Risque'

Janel Parrish is dishing out some new dirt about her upcoming series, The Perfectionists.

A spinoff of Pretty Little Liars, the show will be set in a town called Beacon Heights, and Janel is really excited about.

“It’s a little more classy in what meets the eye. It’s a bunch of people living in this town, trying to be perfect,” Janel shared with PeopleNow about her new local in the series.

She adds, “Underneath the surface [though], I think it’s even edgier and a little bit more risque than the residents of Rosewood.”

The Perfectionists will debut on Freeform in 2019.

The Pretty Little Liars villain popped up again to welcome back The Perfectionists writers team this week as they start writing for the first season.

The message, shared by I. Marlene King on Instagram, reads: “Happy first day, #PLLPerfs writers. Have fun b!tches. -A.”

Mona Might Get A New Relationship on 'The Perfectionists'

Let’s face it, Mona is possibly the best character in the Pretty Little Liars fandom.

Of course, we might be biased, so it’s all music to our ears when we hear I. Marlene King talk about what’s coming for the character in The Perfectionists.

Chatting with ET recently, Marlene gave us all the goods about where and how we’ll find Mona, played by Janel Parrish, in the upcoming spinoff.

“You never really know whether you can trust her or not, and that continues to be her truth in this new story,” she shared.

But first things first – we will get answers about that Parisian dollhouse. Like, are Alex and Mary Drake still there?

“You definitely will get that answer in a very cheeky Mona way,” Marlene confirms, before segueing into this juicy tidbit: a new relationship!

“I think it’s her turn,” she adds. “As an actress and as a character, for us to have a lot more time to spend with her and really get to know Mona better than we already do.”

The Perfectionists is set to premiere in 2019 on Freeform.

Showrunner I. Marlene King chatted with ET over the weekend about the OG Liars getting involved in the spinoff series.

“We would love it,” she shared about Troian getting a chance to direct. “Actually, Ashley Benson is really interested in directing an episode too, so that would be great if we could figure out all that stuff.”

Marlene added, “She’s a baller. [All of the OG PLLs] are smart — they all could direct if they want.”

She also revealed that all of the girls – and guys – are welcome in Beacon Heights, where the series will take place.

“They’re always welcome. We would always want to find a place for them,” Marlene says. “I think there’s just such a seamless sort of transition to this new show that it’s always possible for people to just come in and sort of drop in and visit us.”
