Let’s be real here — the Spider-Man suit probably isn’t all that comfortable to put on or take off, however, Tom Holland would gladly put it on for one big reason — for the kids!
While talking about getting recognized on the streets (he really doesn’t yet), the British born actor revealed that wearing the suit and meeting young fans was the best feeling in the world.
“To make these kids happy was just incredible. And also just meeting kids on the street,” he shared.
“The best is when they actually believe I’m Spider-Man, and they ask me how the webs work, and I have to say, oh I don’t have the suit on and blah blah blah.”
Tom adds, “That for me is one of the best things about being Spider-Man is convincing little kids that I can actually do all that stuff.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming is out this summer!
Tom Holland is all about what Zendaya stands for.
The Spider-Man: Homecoming star spoke about his co-star, who plays Michelle in the upcoming film, and it’s almost perfect.
“Michelle is a very interesting character. She’s very quiet, and she’s always reading these crazy books, like ‘How to Murder Someone without Anyone Knowing’ (laughs),” Tom revealed about Zendaya‘s character. “It’s a very fun character, and Zendaya has really brought a lot of herself to the character, and yeah it’s been really fun working with her on set. It’s been really cool.”
He also opened up about the backlash Zendaya recieved when everyone thought she was going to be playing Mary-Jane Watson, a traditionally white character.
“The thing with Zendaya is she knows that,” he says. “From being on set with her, everyone is always complimenting everyone, and everyone is very loving here. That’s what I love about working for Marvel is how welcoming and kind everyone is.”
“She has such a large following on Instagram, and the majority of those people are all for her and love her, and I feel like our generation of people are moving on from that. This whole, you can’t cast someone who’s not of the right race for a character and such, and I really feel like we’re breaking through and changing that.”
Tom added, “Z is perfect. She’s so strong willed, it’s not going to shake her at all.”
Tom Holland suffered an injury while filming the highly-anticipated film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Luckily, the 20-year-old actor is doing well and it happened toward the end of the film shoot.
“I’ve never worked harder on anything in my life. It was a nonstop job and I felt so passionate and proud of what we were creating,” Tom told THR. “I’m so proud that I was able to give my best, and I’m so grateful that I didn’t get injured. I did a lot of stunts. At the very end, I fell down some stairs, and tweaked my ACL just a little bit.”
He added, “It was right at the end, so I managed to get through it. The funny thing is, I think one of my last shots of the movie was me chasing a bus, and I couldn’t do it. My best friend Harrison was my assistant while we were out there so we dressed him up like me and had him run. So Harrison has a little cameo in the movie, which is great.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7.
If you’re a high school student in New York City, you may have crossed paths with Tom Holland in the hallway and not even known it!
The 20-year-old SpiderMan: Homecoming star recently opened up about his own high school experience, and revealed that he went undercover at one in the Bronx!

“I went to an English high school which is very different — it’s all boys, suit and tie. But I enrolled for three days in a high school in New York as a research exercise,” Tom told THR. “I had a fake accent, a fake name. It was fun. The Bronx School of Science is a school for genius kids, and I’m definitely not a genius. A lot of the students and teachers were confused as to why I was there so they would test me, and fire off questions at me. It was a little embarrassing, but very informative.”
