Vanessa recently shared her thoughts on being an gay rights advocate.
“People can be very close-minded and I think it’s not right. I don’t think it’s fair,” Vanessa shared. “I think it’s important for us to stand up for people and to have each other’s back, and to be involved with the gay community and support the community.” Watch the video below!
She added, “I’m a very open person. Love comes first for me. I don’t see people as gay or straight.”

When we asked about how her style differs when she’s in New York City rather than Los Angeles, Vanessa told us, “What changes my style most is my hairstyle. When it’s long I go for Bohemian, flowy, island style. But when it’s short I go for a more chic meets playful look. I love playing around with fashion. I don’t really have a ‘go-to’ at the moment since the weather is changing, but hopefully I’ll figure it out soon! (laughs)”
Vanessa is currently missing her favorite event of the year – Coachella! – but gave us the inside scoop on the best bands to be looking out for. “Glass Animals, Milky Chance, Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus, Kasabian,” she said. “I love music. I would have been most excited to see these guys. But I’m also obsessed with Flight Facilities‘ new album.”
Finally, Vanessa is no stranger to living life to the fullest and taking risks, so she gave us her best advice.
“Do the things that scare you,” she told us. “It’s the only way you can grow and reach your true potential. No idea is too big and never limit yourself. Do all you can and when you want to quit, go further. Just past the point of giving up a miracle is waiting for you.”
