The first look photos at the upcoming graduation episode of Riverdale have been released – and of course Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) is wearing a red cap and gown!
The upcoming episode titled “Chapter Seventy-Nine: Graduation” will air on Wednesday (February 3) and will be the last high school episode before the time jump.
Here’s a synopsis: With Graduation Day around the corner, the gang consider their next steps beyond Riverdale High. Archie (KJ Apa) learns whether he will be able to graduate with his classmates. FP (Skeet Ulrich) makes a difficult decision about his and Jellybean’s (guest star Trinity Likins) future.
“End of an era. What would’ve been our finale last year. Graduation. Next week’s episode of #Riverdale is one of our best. A beautiful bookend directed by Gabriel Correa, the best of the best, who directed our Season Four premiere, our tribute to Luke. ‘I want us to be innocent, even if it’s only for one moment longer.’ — Betty Cooper, Riverdale High, Class of 2021. ❤️🎓🎢⌛️🚀,” he wrote.
You’ll also see in the episode and the stills that Vanessa Morgan doesn’t appear to be pregnant as most of the premiere episode was already filmed before the show’s production was shut down due to the pandemic.
The 28-year-old actress, who is pregnant with her first child, just shared that she has wrapped on Riverdale for a while, and dropped a little spoiler.
While it has been unknown if Vanessa‘s pregnancy would end up being a part of the show’s upcoming fifth season, she just confirmed that it will be.
“Officially on maternity leave!!!! Ahh!! Feeling grateful to my showrunner & producers for being so accommodating & writing my pregnancy into the show!🤰🏽Also proud of my body for allowing me to still work almost 9 months preggo. Now time to have a baby! 👶🏼 lol Happy Holidays everyone 🎄,” Vanessa wrote on Instagram.
Since the first part of the season wraps up the rest of season four, it looks like after the time jump, Toni Topaz will be expecting!
Though the whole Riverdale cast is off for the next few weeks for the holidays, Vanessa will be off for a little bit longer as she’s not due until the end of January!
Late last week, Vanessa shared what she was doing on set, just eight weeks away from the birth of her baby.
“Filming on stage with with live snakes yesterday 🐍 haha can’t wait to show my lil guy what his mom was doing 8 weeks before he was born 😂🤰🏽 #RiverdaleS5,” she captioned her post.
Co-star and BFF Madelaine Petsch shared her post on her own Instagram story and praised her and women.
“8 weeks before she has her lil baby boy she is working crazy hours and doing dances with live snakes. Woman are so powerful,” Madelaine wrote.
Vanessa recently shared how her pregnancy has affected her work days.
“Shout out to all the pregnant mommas workin full time jobs,” she wrote on Instagram story back in October (via People). “All I know is growing a human makes me 10x more tired at work so just wanted to say each and every one of you are so friggen incredible and strong 👏🏽♥️♥️♥️♥️.”
