“We are so thankful to be able to release new music for our fans after they have been such an incredible support system for us throughout the past five years as a band. ‘Love Back’ is the start of our most authentic chapter yet, and we can’t wait for what’s next,” the guys said in a statement.
The same day the song was released, Why Don’t We are putting on their first live, in-person performance for fans in almost two years, and are filming it for the upcoming music video.
Why Don’t We hand delivered tickets to the show to fans, giving back to some of their biggest supporters just days after celebrating the group’s five year anniversary.
The guys of Why Don’t We are speaking out about abuse they’ve been through from their management.
In a lengthy letter shared to fans on Thursday (September 9), Corbyn Besson, Daniel Seavey, Jack Avery, Jonah Marais and Zach Herron opened up about what they’ve been going through, addressing what’s been already out for the first time.
That same day, it was revealed that they also filed a petition with the California Labor Commission, to get their contract with their manager and the management company thrown out.
HappyNew Music Friday (January 15) – our first new music roundup of 2021!!
We have some great new music to share with readers this week, including from Aly & AJ and Ariana Grande, as well as Why Don’t We‘s long-awaited album The Good Times and The Bad Ones.
Sister duo Aly & AJ dropped their first track of the year, “Listen!!!” It also comes just a couple weeks after they released the explicit version of their fan-favorite song “Potential Breakup Song.”
“Listen!!! is about feeling trapped by a relationship or system. It’s a reminder that you might be lost but you always know your way out,” Aly said about the track. “Being able to create this song with the great Jorge Elbrecht felt like a breakthrough for our songwriting. We’re honored to have a longtime mentor & hero of ours, Nancy Wilson of Heart on this track, along with the super talented Jack Tatum of Wild Nothing.”
Why Don’t We have been teasing their new album for months, which they wrote, co-produced and played their own instruments on. The Good Times and The Bad Ones is finally here!
“Writing and co-producing our own music has been one of the most rewarding experiences for us,” Corbyn Besson shared of the LP. “In the past four years we’ve become confident enough to reinvent ourselves, becoming the band we always hoped to be.”
Sofia debuted her new song and music video, “Hold on to Me,” while Katherine pulled another song out of her archives, “Making a Monster Out of Me.”
“I wanted to share one last song with you this year. A song that reminds us to hold onto each other with all our hearts, to hold on to hope. But most of all, I just hope it makes you smile. “When it feels like you’ve been falling, hold on to me…” I love you always, Your Sofia 🤍,” Sofia shared on Instagram.
“Surprise (again) 🎙 – another tune from the archives recorded years ago . #MakingaMonsterOutofMe,” Katherine wrote on her account. “When there are such astronomical extenuating circumstances, it can be easy to let external influences affect who we are and who we become. Even when the world isn’t upside down, one can become lost in a situation, a person, or even a time when life seems to spin out of control. In those moments, it’s important to acknowledge that and remember who you are at your core.”
“Life can take us for a ride and seem to turn us into someone we don’t recognize,” she continued. “We all have a choice to make as to the person we want to be and the influence we want to have on those around us. No matter what sort of monster you may be facing, it’s never to late to find your strength and your light and choose to do better. So enjoy the tune, get on your feet, and shake off those monsters. It’s also featured for a moment in episode 1 of #THESTAND… 💗 xKat”
We also have a new duet from Tori Kelly and JoJo, who teamed up for a rendition of Aretha Franklin‘s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” for Global Citizen’s upcoming album, STAND UP.
Why Don’t We premiered the music video for their latest new track “Slow Down,” Julie and the Phantoms star Jeremy Shada debuted his new song “Will They Won’t They,” and Scotty Sire released a new holiday song, “25 Christmas Trees,” with Toddy Smith.
“Surprise… #SlowDownOutNow,” the guys shared on Twitter.
“I hope this song brings you back to all the good times you’ve had, and makes you wanna have a million more #SlowDownOutNow,” Corbyn added on his own account.
The new song comes just after the second episode of the guys’ docu-series with YouTube, 30 Days With, was released. The web series follows the band “as they open up about their evolution, coping with the global pandemic while making music, music videos and everything that went into the creation of their highly anticipated album, The Good Times and The Bad Ones.” You can watch the episodes on their YouTube channel!
