The 24-year-old Zombieland 2: Double Tap actress opened up about using her anxiety as a super power, having her life in order and more. Check it:
On being a “wreck”: “Oh my god, I’m a wreck. I was like, Get your sh** together and look like a decent human being. Don’t be late. Pee before. Get your hair done.”
On her anxiety: “I came into this world with anxiety. I used to hold my breath from anxiety when I was a baby and it would make me faint. There are times when it’s debilitating, and there are times when it makes me laugh, like in the car today when I lost the plot entirely. But I actually feel like my superpower is my anxiety. It’s one of my key motivators, and it’s at the center of my ambition.”
On her fear of a quarter life crisis: “I think I’m nearing it…or in it. There’s nothing I can do. I just have to ride the wave. I fully have existential thoughts. What does it all mean? How are we here? What were we put on this earth to do? Then I’m like, ‘Zoey, just stop.’”
Zoey Deutch has a twinning moment with Ben Platt in their burgundy suits for their appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday night (October 7).
The two actors stepped out to promote their new Netflix series, The Politician.
During their appearance, Zoey and Ben sang a little song about Yom Kippur and opened up about their own Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.
“You know, at your Bat Mitzvah, it’s like a marker of becoming an adult,” Zoey shared. “My 12 year-old-brain thought becoming an adult meant waxing your eyebrows. I thought, ‘Oh, cool, pretty adults and they’ve got their nice eyebrows and I have caterpillar eyebrows.’”
She added that her mom finally gave in and let her have one, but then, “God struck me down. I broke out into this spectacular, probably burgundy rash on my whole face. I had very thin eyebrows and a bright red face with a caked on layer of makeup to protect my rashes face. So it was not extravagant. It was kind of sad.”

The Set It Up star had host Jimmy Fallon hilariously confused when visiting the set on Thursday (October 3).
“What are the chances that I’d run into you… here?” Zoey asks after stumbling in.
“The chances are high,” Jimmy replies. “I mean, this is my show. I’m at my desk doing my show.”
“Yeah but of all the television studios in all the towns, who would have thought I’d end up at yours?” Zoey says.

On the important lessons her parents [Lea ThompsonandHoward Deutch] instilled in her from a young age: “My parents valued a great sense of humor over a lot of other things that young girls are taught to value. The compliments were not ‘you’re pretty’, but ‘you made me laugh’. The positive reinforcement shaped me.”
On growing up on film sets: “You know, my first steps were taken on a movie set. My first word was ‘lipstick’, in my mom’s makeup trailer. It was a hundred percent my deepest desire [to perform].”
On her experience at school: “I had a terrible time in middle school. Just the worst. There were a lot of coughed insults when I walked down the halls, and there was some pushing and shoving, but mostly it was just people talking behind my back. Now I’m in a profession where everyone talks behind your back. But I rarely pay attention to it and I never do it to others. It’s none of my business what other people think about me, and I meditate on that mantra.”
On reading the script for The Politician for the first time: “It was the best pilot script I had ever read.”
