Joe Jonas on Jonas Brothers Break: 'We Needed To Take It'

The 23-year-old musician dished to us about his new show, music inspirations and more. Check it:

On The Next: “It’s cool to be a part of the show, there are so many different artists a part of it, we all have so much respect for each other which is cool. Gloria Estefan is phenomenal, and you would never expect to know how much money that woman is worth because she is so down to earth. I love working with the judges because they are so talented.”

On what brought the Jonas Brothers back together: “We wanted to be able to take two and a half years to kind of do our own thing. We needed to take a break to live our lives to have something to sing about, we worked so much we couldn’t sing a song about working so much. You have to be able to go live life and create, and take that time for yourself as an artist. For me and my brothers, we were able to have so many different experiences. Kevin got married, Nick was doing Broadway and I did a solo project. We got back together and were ready to create. We have so much going on in the studio, we probably have about 20 songs now that we have written. We’re dissecting and creating. I am excited for the fans to hear the new material. That’s the nice thing about my show, and Kevin‘s show, and hopefully Nick on American Idol, is that we have all these different outlets that can bring in some new fans.”

On his music inspirations: “I grew up listening to the Bee Gees, U2, Switchfoot, Rolling Stones, Kings of Leon, even as I got older. These were bands I felt were like families, that could get on stage and perform that had music that just carried, sometimes rock and sometimes pop.”

On his bucket list: “I would love to do more movies and I would love to travel the world and perform in cities that I have never been to.”
