Matt Davis To Return as Alaric for 'Vampire Diaries' Season 6!

It’s official — Matt Davis is officially coming back to The Vampire Diaries!

Matt’s character, and fan favorite, Alaric died at the end of season three after he was essentially used as a pawn in Esther’s twisted game and refused to complete his transition into a vampire. He died in one of the saddest scenes of the entire series.

Since then, he’s popped up here and there, mainly to check out his old friends and old drinking buddy Damon (Ian Somerhalder). In real life, Matt had landed a starring role in the short-lived CW series Cult.

In the fifth season finale, Alaric had the chance to come back to life, through Bonnie, and he took it. It looks like he’ll be the one consoling Elena after – SPOILER ALERT! – Damon’s tragic death.
