Madison Chock & Evan Bates Score Silver at World Championships; Gracie Gold & Jason Brown Take 4th in Shanghai

Congrats to ice dancers Madison Chock and Evan Bates for picking up the silver medal at this weekend’s 2015 ISU World Figure Skating Championships held at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in China.

The duo placed second with 181.34, just a few points shy of France’s Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron. Maia and Alex Shibutani were 5th, while Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue placed 10th.

In the women’s competition, Gracie Gold and Ashley Wagner were 4th and 5th, with Polina Edmunds in 8th.

“It might sound silly because I’m 23 years old, but I’m still learning in this sport,” Ashley shared with press after the free program. “I was a late bloomer. To go out there under such immense pressure, to redeem myself in a way, that’s something I’m very proud of.”

Gracie added, “This year was a little more rough and tumble for me. I’m used to being at least consistently going up, maybe a little down. Wiping the ice at the Four Continents event and breaking a foot aren’t really in my usual plans. Those are some pretty severe ups and downs.”

Jason Brown placed 4th in the men’s competition, with Adam Rippon in 8th, and Joshua Farris in 11th.

Pairs katers Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier placed 12th, and U.S. National Champs Alexa Scimeca and Chris Knierim were 7th.
