Jay McGuiness on His ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Win: ‘It Was a Real Surprise’

Jay McGuiness gives cameras a thumbs up while heading inside ITV studios for an interview on Monday (December 21) in London, England.

The 25-year-old former member of The Wanted won Strictly Come Dancing with partner Aliona Vilani a couple days earlier.

“In the dressing room before we finished, we played one of our favourite songs, had a bit of a weep and said thanks for everything,” Jay said (via BBC). “And then we wrote it off that it wasn’t going to happen – and then we actually won. So it was a real surprise.”
