On how she stays herself: I’ve grown up a lot and learned a lot, but I haven’t changed. My family has really kept me grounded and helps me stay true to the person I’ve always been.

On her music: When you listen to my new music, you’ll see how much I’ve grown. It’s the story of who I’m born to be…As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that music can help people and make me a part of something bigger than myself. Whether that’s encouraging others to be aware of their surroundings, to be politically active or just learning to be happy with who you are.

On her fans: They force me to be honest and upfront at all times because they’d be able to tell if I wasn’t.
