Elizabeth Banks to Star in New 'Power Rangers' Movie as Villain Rita Repulsa

Elizabeth Banks has joined the cast of the upcoming movie adaptation of the classic television show Power Rangers.

The 41-year-old Hunger Games actress will play the alien villain Rita Repulsa in the adaptation.

Elizabeth announced the news on Twitter, writing, “After 10,000 years, I’m free! It’s time to conquer Earth!!?? Time to play #RitaRepulsa #PowerRangersMovie.”

In the original series, Rita was an alien witch who planned to dominate the galaxy and failed to take over Earth.

Other cast members include singer Becky G, who signed on to play the Yellow Ranger in October.
