Maia Mitchell On Callie & Brandon's Relationship Journey: 'It's A Process & It Takes Time'

The 22-year-old Fosters actress kept it casual for a night out with friends, just a week after the season finale of her Freeform show.

“That was an interesting scene that we shot, with Brandon saying ‘Let’s do it, let’s tell them.’ He’s almost irking her on, but he’s not,” Maia shared with Zap2It about the duo’s relationship in the series. “He’s angry and frustrated that she keeps bringing it up, and she’s frustrated that it’s still something that she’s feeling.”

She continued, “We definitely see that come to a head, especially because their relationship is so similar to Romeo & Juliet and star-crossed lovers. Now seeing how that has influenced his art and his play, she’s almost seeing his words come out of Matt’s mouth. It’s really intense for her.”

Maia added, “They’re on a journey of letting each other go and accepting the family as the priority, but it’s a process and it takes time. They’re going to slip up occasionally, and have annoying conversations where it’s one step forward, two steps back. They’re just going to have to keep on keeping on.”
