Shailene Woodley Pleads Not Guilty After Peaceful Protest Arrest

Shailene Woodley has entered a plea of not guilty after being arrested last week while protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline, according to TMZ.

The 24-year-old actress was not in the courthouse on Wednesday morning (October 19) but her lawyer entered the plea on her behalf.

Shailene was charged with one count of misdemeanor criminal trespass and one count of misdemeanor engaging in a riot.

She was arrested last week while protesting despite complying with officers requests and documented the entire event on Facebook Live. Shailene was taken to a local jail but was released hours later.

The new pipeline has caused controversy because it is set to be built on Standing Rock Sioux land and burial grounds.
