Perrie Edwards Learned to Develop a 'Thick Skin'

Perrie Edwards is opening up about how she deals with heartbreak and public scrutiny.

The 23-year-old Little Mix singer had some good tips for dealing with breakups.

“When people go through break ups, you automatically want to hear really sad songs,” Perrie told E! News. “You want to listen to [Toni Braxton's] “Un-Break My Heart” and have a little cry, get a tub of ice cream out.”

“We just thought, ‘You know what? Women need to feel empowered,’” she continued, referencing the group’s latest single “Shout Out to My Ex,” adding, “Everybody needs to feel empowered after a break up and we feel like this song can relate to everyone because everybody’s had an ex…We have each other luckily, so we experience everything together and we’ve always got each other’s backs.”

As for how Perrie deals with the public aspect of it, she said, “I think you have to learn to have a thick skin. I think it comes with being in a girl band and being an artist. People want to know what you’re doing and what you’re up to, which is fine with us.”
