Although he first started hand sewing with his grandma, he is mostly self-taught. He got a sewing machine at age seven and feels that designing just came to him naturally.

Tieler also appeared on Project Runway: Threads, winning his episode at age 14.

His designs are for everyone, from the sophisticated lady, to the club kids. He says he works great under time restraints and feels that some of his best pieces are when he has a strict deadline to meet.
