Ed Sheeran's 'Barcelona' Was Supposed To Be 'Divide's Lead Single
We all love Ed Sheeran ‘s two lead singles “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill”, off of his new album Divide.
But, did you know that another song was slated to be the first single? It was “Barcelona”, the bop where Ed is singing in Spanish and winning all our hearts over again.
“That was the first single,” Ed revealed about the track. So what happened?
“We were shooting a music video in Barcelona and it was all set up. The concept, we had the director, and then that’s when Stuart [Camp, manager] said the album wasn’t good enough,” Ed shared.
Ed adds later in the interview, “The original recording of it is actually – we had an outdoor studio by a pool so the original recording – like the mic was outside so the original recording is just loads of bird songs and it just sounds jamming.”

Ed is also pictured performing at the 2017 Goldene Kamera Awards in Hamburg, Germany on Saturday (March 4).
