Shawn Mendes to Make Acting Debut in 'Summer of Love' Musical

Shawn Mendes is breaking into the acting industry!

The 18-year-old “Mercy” singer will make his debut on the big screen in the upcoming movie musical Summer of Love, according to THR.

The script was written by fellow Canadian Ivan Reitman, who will also direct.

Plot details are scarce, but the title is apparently in reference to the summer of 1967 when hippies demonstrated their opposition to the Vietnam War in San Francisco.

That summer, a ton of famous acts – including The Who, Grateful Dead, and Jimi Hendrix – performed.

In case you forgot, Shawn voiced a character in the 2013 animated film Underdogs and had a brief guest stint on The 100.
