Ed Sheeran Drops 'Galway Girl' Lyric Video In Perfect Time For St. Patrick's Day
Ed Sheeran is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day right — with a new lyric video for “Galway Girl”!
“That’s like my favorite one,” he admitted in a recent interview about the track. “The whole album is my favorite one but that one – I’m just waiting for that to come out because everyone at the label including my manager are so anti-folk songs.”
Ed added, “They’re just like I don’t get it and i don’t know if it’s going to work. And I know there’s four hundred million people in the world that claim Irish and they’re gonna f******* love it and I’m really excited to put it out there.”
How did this track come about?
Ed reveals that he was working with Foy Vance at the time and “we were recording in Suffolk and we were sitting in a garden and we had Beoga, this Irish folk band, come and record some other songs. I was kind of like ‘Beoga are here for two or three days, it’ll be a shame to waste, should we try and write another song?’”
“We just really didn’t know what to go with. They have a song called ‘Minute Five’, which is that rift *sings*. I just said, can you try that on it. They did and it sounded brilliant so we just kept it.”
