'13 Reasons Why' Star Katherine Langford Bought a Piano To Cope With Filming Heavy Material

13 Reasons Why is filled with huge issues…issues that will make you think and maybe, even bring you down.

So, how did star Katherine Langford get through all those issues while playing Hannah Baker? A piano!

“For me, what kind of eased it was that when I got there [to Northern California, where they filmed] we had to find locations to live and inhabit for the next six months,” she explains in a new interview. “The first thing that I put in my apartment was a piano.”

Katherine adds, “I bought one for $50 and it was a lifesaver because I just went home and played and played…I’m sure I annoyed everyone on the same floor, but…”

Another way she dealt with performing deep scenes every day? Comedy.

“I watched a lot of The Office,” she says. “But I didn’t get to go home until we were well and truly done.”
