Casey Johnson Leaves Union J After Only One Year; Band Releases Statement

Union J are back to being a trio after the newest member, Casey Johnson, has left.

The guys — JJ Hamblett, Josh Cuthbert and Jaymi Hensley — have released a statement to fans about Casey‘s departure from the band.

“We are sad to announce that Casey is leaving Union J, in order to pursue other opportunities,” they start out on Facebook. “It’s been a great year, having him onboard, but being in a band is like any other relationship and sometimes it just doesn’t work out.”

Union J revealed that they’re going to stay a three-piece and that new music is coming out later this year.

“We’re all very excited about the new music that we’ve been working on and there are big plans ahead. The first single will be released August / September time, with the album early 2018 and we can’t wait to be out there promoting it,” they write.

Casey filled a post in the band after original member, George Shelley, left early 2016.
