Selena Gomez is a Big Advocate For Therapy & Explains Why (Video)

Selena Gomez has been super candid about her mental health and taking a break from the spotlight.

The singer/producer/actress (how do we even introduce her anymore?) she opens up about her experience in therapy in a new radio interview.

“I’m a big advocate for therapy,” the 24-year-old “Bad Liar” singer told radio host Zach Sang. “I’m a big advocate for taking care of yourself… if I’m not happy it’s not worth it,” she added, referring to her break from the spotlight.

Selena then went on to talk about what therapy means to her and why people have misconceptions about the practice.

“I think it sounds a lot scarier to people than it actually is,” she explained. “To me it’s like holding a mirror to yourself and actually acknowledging the things you don’t really want to acknowledge about yourself.”

We are so glad that Selena is doing so much better with her mental health. We also applaud her for speaking openly about therapy in interviews — every celebrity who does so is helping to shatter the stigma surrounding such a common and helpful resource.
