Bella Thorne Asked Writers to Change This 'Famous in Love' Scene

Famous in Love star Bella Thorne has never been shy about speaking out about what she believes in – from defending Selena Gomez from dress-shamers, to expressing her deep and unerring hatred for mint-flavoring.

As it turns out, she spoke out to the Famous in Love writers as well to express her thoughts over what she found to be a problematic storyline.

Bella asked the writers to change her character’s reaction to finding out her friend Cassie was working as a topless maid, she told Complex in an interview.

“Originally that scene was written a very different way,” she explained. “[Paige] was just really judgmental about the topless maid [situation]. Originally I felt so bad for the Cassie character.”

“I was like, ‘I don’t want to do the scene, I don’t want to say these lines. This doesn’t sound feminist at all.’”

It’s amazing that Bella was able to speak out and sway the show’s writers, because the original storyline definitely doesn’t sound like the reaction a supportive friend should have. This serves as yet another example of Bella employing her feminism and beliefs in her everyday life.
