Dove Cameron's 'Descendants' Audition Was So Secretive She Didn't Even Know The Name of the Project!

We already know that Dove Cameron is the perfect actor to play Mal, daughter of Maleficent in Descendants.

However, when she went to audition for the project, she had no idea what the project was!

“When I first read the script for Descendants, everything was top secret. The project was under wraps, so they didn’t even tell me that they wanted me to audition!” Dove says.

She adds, “All they said to me was, ‘Come to Disney Channel.’”

It was so secretive that she actually thought she lost her job.

“I was petrified that I’d lost my job. I thought I’d done something wrong. I thought, ‘Mickey’s going to reprimand me.’ But he didn’t.”

Whew!

“When I got to Disney Channel, they took me into an office and they plopped a massive script down in front of me,” Dove continues. “They said, ‘Read this and tell us what you think, but the script can’t leave the building.’ I read it and I was immediately mesmerised by the story. I knew I had to be part of the movie.”

Descendants 2 will premiere on July 21st.
