Selena Gomez Really Wanted a Queer Love Triangle for Her 'Bad Liar' Video

Selena Gomez does it all in her “Bad Liar” music video, playing a student, both the student’s parents, and the woman the student’s father is having a maybe-affair with, who she also has a crush on.

It’s a memorable video in part because it features Selena lusting over herself dressed as a Farrah Fawcett-esque woman. As it turns out, the 24-year-old pop star fought for the queer love triangle in the video.

TV director Jesse Peretz told Billboard that Selena “brought on this idea that somewhere within this love triangle is lesbian attraction,” which is part of what inspired him to take on the project; “acknowledging that it’s not just heterosexuals in the world.”

We applaud Selena for exploring a queer storyline. Watch the video (again!) below.
