Cole Sprouse Talks the 'Loneliness in Celebrity' in a Candid Interview

It’s difficult to imagine Cole Sprouse in real life being at all similar to the introverted self-proclaimed “weirdo” Jughead he plays on-screen, but in a new interview he opens up about how he could actually connect with the character pretty well.

“It felt like a role that I could really dive into,” he told Wonderland Magazine, “Of course I’m pulling off of lived experience for the character as well…There comes a real loneliness in celebrity where you’re constantly told you’re part of an out group in your own society.”

He also talked about his childhood, and how famous he and Dylan Sprouse were as kids following The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.

“We were at this point of recognisability where we couldn’t even walk around anymore,” he said, “I was really socially anxious and strange.”

“This whole last year and a half has been a process of me discovering if this is still the right choice or not,” he continued. “I don’t think I’ll ever be completely satisfied with the answer, because I have an entire lifetime of critical thinking to complicate why this choice is so big and it comes from childhood and all this, yada yada yada…I felt ready for it and that’s an important indicator.”

He also revealed in the same interview that he considered giving up acting forever!

It’s important to remember that as glamorous as celebrities’ lives seem on social media, there is definitely a struggle that comes with identifiability and being judged by the world. We’re so glad he decided to step back into the limelight.
