Dianne Doan Dishes On Lonnie's Rebel Spirit in 'Descendants 2'

Let’s be honest here, Lonnie is one of the best characters in Descendants 2 — we mean, she’s the ONLY girl on the fencing team at Auradon Prep, and rightfully so, we might add.

Dianne Doan, who plays the daughter of Fa Mulan and Li Shang, chatted with Girl’s Life about Lonnie’s rebel spirit in the film.

“Lonnie is such an independent individual that it was fun to play someone who, at such a young age, is so sure of herself and doesn’t let anyone tell her she can’t do something that she sets her mind to,” she says.

Dianne adds, “She’s a little bit of a rebel, but, she has a smile on her face in everything she does, especially when battling it out with pirates.”

There are so many reasons why you should love Lonnie, but the main one is this: She goes after what she wants.

“The main message that I portray in this film is, ‘You can do anything you set your mind to. Don’t let society, your gender or age stand in the way of what you want,” Dianne shares.

And she does!

Descendants 2 is airing now on Disney Channel and the Disney Channel app.
