Sabrina Carpenter Remembers Being Discovered From a Miley Cyrus Contest

You may think that Girl Meets World kicked off Sabrina Carpenter ‘s career, or even her first album, Eyes Wide Open…but actually, it was even before that!

Once upon a time, Sabrina entered a contest on Miley Cyrus‘ website and was one of the top 3 singers in it — that’s what truly kicked off her amazing career and the singer always remembers it.

“I think that definitely helped start my music career and start a fan base,” she shared in a new interview. “That’s where my first fan base ever came from.”

After the contest, Sabrina was signed to Hollywood Records, and you can actually say the rest is history, because from there came GMW and two concert tours.

“It’s become one of the best experiences of my life,” she says. “Maybe it wasn’t even as cool then as it is now – being able to say that I was signed at 12 – because people are like, ‘Wait, well, when I was 12, I was just playing with, like, Jenga blocks and you were getting signed by a label.’ That’s a really cool feeling.”
